Another date for your timeline. 4/13/2005, Indictment.
Here's the text of the original indictment (there were 3 superceding indictments after that):

Another key date: 3/21/2005, Original Complaint filed with Court

Whoops! The date on the letter is March 16--and it was signed by the dealer on the same day. I misread that before. That's even stranger. Was the dealer in Sutton's office that day?

I brought up the Mexican lawyer because in one of his television interviews, Sutton claimed that the dealer was being represented by a lawyer in Mexico on the immunity issue. This was part of his justification for why he could not prosecute the dealer. Maybe he was referring to the El Paso lawyer and misspoke.

That said, if a lawyer was representing him in the negotiations for immunity, I find it strange that the lawyer did not also sign the immunity agreement. When I do letter agreements on behalf of my clients, I always have the opposing party's lawyer sign as well to prove that the party had legal advice about the document.

My guess is Sutton's AUSA (Gardes) went to Mexico to offer the immunity and execute the agreement. I can't find anything authoritative to support that though. (Other than Aldrete-Davila being unwilling to enter the country without immunity).

Relative to the lawyer, I think Sutton was accurate saying "a lawyer in Mexico"... which is not the same as "a Mexican lawyer." It's just that the El Paso attorney happened to be in Mexico at the time.

"Two Border Patrol officers shot 15 times at an unarmed man who was running away and posed no real threat." The Bush administration continues to argue on background that Ramos and Compean lied to Border Patrol officials and covered up evidence, asserting the drug smuggler was not armed and had attempted to surrender peacefully.

How does anyone know that the invader was not armed? He made it back to mexico and could have easily tossed any weapons he had. Sutton is a piece of garbage.

What is the story on this jury?

An unidentified guy escapes across the border after an altercation during which shots were fired, leaving behind a vehicle full of marijuana.

Who is to say who he was, or that the guy who came forward with an attorney and received immunity is the same guy? Since he escaped, how do we know the guy who escaped was armed or not, or wounded and how, or a space alien?

How the heck does something like this make it to court? The mouth-breathing, move-their-lips-when-they-try-to-read- federal-worker jury must have been bussed over from LA or the Bronx. How many of them were illegal aliens at one time, or descended from them?

One more question: if the agents had properly reported this, what then would have happened? Who was their lawyer? WTF, over.

WTF, over. On top of all of this, the dope dealer is a veteran?

No, Aldrete-Davila is not a veteran. Our government chose to use the William Beaumont Army Medical Center as the place to treat Davila's butt wound.
