His church in Chicago, Trinity UCC, seems to be all about politics, especially the politics of resentment. At Trinity, Jesus is not such a big deal. Politics is what's hot.

First, under Islamic law, children of a Muslim father are Muslims. His father was a Muslim (as was his stepfather). Second, he was registered as a Muslim at the public school in Indonesia, where public records classify people according to religion. (Besides being born to a Muslim father, saying the Muslim creed in the presence of a Muslim witness makes one a Muslim.)
Thus, either Senator Obama is an apostate from Islam, and has a big target painted on him, or he is lying about his embrace of liberal (UCC) Christianity.
While you are right that the 'kill all apostates' command doesn't motivate the hunting of low profile ex-Muslims living in the US, the election of an apostate from Islam as POTUS would definitely attract both more vilification and assassination attempts from his former coreligionists.
Senator Obama needs to be pressed on the matter, since if he is lying about his Christianity, the public should know so that they can make an informed judgement about electing a Muslim liar, and if he is sincere, the attacks on him (certainly rhetorical and possibly physical) by Muslims may finally concentrate the mind of the American left on the defense of civilization.
Having him as president would be a disaster for us all, no matter what this madrassa connection turns out to be.
However, Hillary would be worse.
I have seen no information that Obama's mother was political in any way just a dippy idealist. His politics are not Marxist but standard Chicago Democrat crook. That is where his weak spot is and where attacks should be concentrated.
His Land scam is just the tip of the iceberg and I would wage there is more where that came from.
Obama's mother wasn't from Chicago though. She was from Kansas, and nutty as she was I seriously doubt she had any connection to organized crime...except maybe her cannabis supplier.
There were several interviews over the weekend with her indonesian friends where her politics were described. She was a hippie multiculturalist nutcase marxist just like her Unitarian parents (who Obama lived with when he was in high school). They all are.
They also apparently do the same thing with families. His mother Ann Dunham married two muslim deadbeats, both ending in nasty separations with kids left in her tow as she hopped around the South Pacific.
Barack Obama Sr. was a walking marital disaster. He was a polygamist (as many muslims are) and took at least 4 wives in his lifetime. He left his first wife in Kenya without divorcing her and moved to the U.S. on a student visa. Ann Dunham - Barack Jr.'s mom - was wife number 2. He abandoned her in Hawaii (again no divorce) and moved to Harvard where he took wife #3, who gave him 2 kids. Then he went back to Kenya and hooked up with wife #1 again, producing a couple more kids with her. Then he hooked up with wife #4, another Kenyan lady, and had another kid with her.
Throughout there were no divorce records when he dumped his wife of the moment, and there's also evidence that he still considered the other wives to be his own. Some reporter interviewed Barack Sr.'s Kenyan family members in an article over the weekend about it. They kept saying that he considered himself still married to his first wife, the Kenyan lady, two wives later and said this was an accepted "tradition" of his culture. The reporter wouldn't dare call it the dreaded p-word - POLYGAMY. Nor will anybody else in the MSM. But polygamy is exactly what it was.
