Rudy beats the press like a rented mule the last person it wants as president is Guiliani. It cannot influence him. It cannot buffalo him. It despises him in fact.

Rudy is ok, however his gun control garbage is scary. That was a "What you have to say to win in NYC" kind of thing. I doubt it would be part of a national campaign, much less part of his presidency. I think he'd be more than content to just let it drop.

This is a result of the disaster which hit conservatives in Nov. Of course, many of the clueless still haven't figured our what happened.

I think Hunter would win hands down in freeperville. But he's got his work cut out for him.

This is why I think it is crucial to select a conservative for VP. One cannot win this next election so stealth is in order.

Your "rules" are all based on campaigns where there is an obvious torch bearer in at least one party. Unfortunately for all you old party types all your rules go right out the window for 2008 since for the 1st time since 1952 you have an open field primary in BOTH parties. None of the "rules" apply.
Frankly the ONLY reason the "rules" were created was so the DC Old Boy's club could try to ignore the people and preselect the candidate that would be offered. Not going to work this time.

If rudy could get right on guns, I could almost vote for him.
To: MNJohnnie
Yeah right any moment the Unknown Candidate is going to appear and sweep the field.
Paranoia is not a good means of political analysis. VOTERS put EVERY candidate in office not some super secret cabal. And VOTERS vote for people whom they have actually heard of. Staggering isn't it?

Oh yeah. "L'audace, l'audace, toujours l'audace." should be tatooed on the back of Hunters hands. But tough is not the same as impossible and he has the media management skills to do it.

These stories piss me off. It is really early, and most people aren't even in "who do I want to be president next" mode yet. Nobody is "tanking" on any graph whose trends mean anything meaningful yet.

So far, he is the ONLY one I support that has announced. Brownback and Huckabee might as well hang it up. they excite the base about the same as Frist would.

Congressman Hunter is a three issue guy:
Borders
Defense/Security
Abortion
He needs to flesh out his positions on other meaningful issues. 5 word bullet points and 10 second sound bites don't do it for me. Consider me skeptical at this point.
I hold him partially responsible for the failure of the house Republicans to hold the majority. He was the Chariman of the ASC. Continual inaction and failure to articulate and pursue a clear and meaningful agenda are not, to me anyway, winning resume notes.
Call me bitter, but I've got little use for this most recent bunch of ousted chairmen. Their failures and business as usual approach over the last 4 years have left us with Speaker Pelosi and given the Obama/Clinton travelling sideshow a political springboard.
If you want to elect a someone from the congress I'd prefer Dan Lundgren over Hunter - but I don't think he can win either.

You mean all the old political types who did nothing but whine for 2 years and then suddenly lost the election think THEY know what happened? After manging to do NOTHING for 2 year so they lost the election NOW are turning around and claiming they had been "too conservative" which is why they managed to turn out a smaller % of their base in Nov 2006 then they had in any election since 1992?
If you want to know WHO the politically clueless one around here is, look in the mirror. You lost because you did not get your base to turn out. Turing into Democrat lite will NOT get you more votes in 2008.
THIS is why the Republicans are in such desperate trouble. This arrogant refusal to move OUTSIDE the DC Media-Politcal bubble and find out what the country REALLY thinks. You all spend so much time repeating your nonsense to each other you confuse your feelings for fact

Oh well, get ready for 8 years of Obama Hussein

Sounds like they are premising this by his support for the war. I don't think that is the cause, I think his efforts to restrict free speech and his take over with the gang on judges is the leading cause of his "tanking". Just my opinion.
