That's great.
I don't know if you ever see those ads for the PGA Tour during the televised golf tourneys. But they really show how excellent the game of golf is for kids........ basically because honesty and integrity are stressed in the rules of golf.

Tiger is a genius, but he doesn't dominate the sport the way Nicklaus or Palmer did, because he has a stronger field of competitors. I was with you 100% until your final statement.
What makes Tiger so great, IMO, is that in spite of all the top line competition, he still totally dominates. And he only enters tournaments that have the strongest field.
What's he going for now, 6 in a row, 7...whatever, he's absolutely incredible. But, I believe some day, some one will actually come along and break Tiger's records.
Maybe not in my lifetime but it probably will happen. Just the nature of evolution I guess.
Again, this is just my opinion.

Federer continues to be invincible. Well see what the dirtballers can do with him on the red clay at the French Open later this year.
Somehow, I think Roger will prevail. The guy is a genius, and I don't throw that word around at all........... except toward the also invincible, Mia T.
;-)

Well, you did to me again. The first thing I do in the morning is check FR. By seeing this thread
it has taken all the mystery out of watching the match I taped! ;^)I watched it anyway and Federer is unbelievable. It's like watching a machine that can read minds.

Roger Federer is also kind of lucky he has no real competitor outside of Rafael Nadal. During the 1970's and 1980's, the likes of Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg and a couple of others constantly vied for the best in men's tennis.

Roger Federer RULES! I hope he wins all four majors this year:)

I respectfully disagree. Where is Federer's weak spot? Sampras was a serve and volley player, as was Lendl, McEnroe, Edberg and Connors. Roddick is a great serve and volley player and Federer passed him at the net in every way possible. Supposedly that is where Federer is weak. He beats opponents at the net, from the baseline and everywhere else in between. There is simply no other player as well rounded as he is. That is why he dominates.
I would argue that the luck went to Steffi Graf because her competition was stabbed in the back and Seles was never able to return at the top of her game.

Pardon me for being so blunt, but you now .......... on two different threads ( a Sharapova thread and this) have shown you know very little about tennis and athletics.
These tennis players today are all very excellent and in incredible shape.
I DO understand your sentiment about the older era, but you are very wrong about today's men's tennis competition. Trust me, there are many brilliant players............. just one Safin....... ever hear of him?
