"Good Article. Surprised about Merle Haggard, did I miss something?"
We constantly underestimate the power of propaganda, whether it's on the news, in the classroom, or in song lyrics.
I have been surprised over the past few months at the number of otherwise sensible people who think that the Iraq war was a mistake. I wish I had the opportunity to discuss that with Ben Stein, whom I greatly respect, because I really think he could be brought around in a few minutes.
Yes folks ONE is far too many......but as long as we take that narrow, myopic view of Military casualties, then NO WAR EVER will ever be described as anything BUT a FAILURE!
The author's WORDS, "We are mired in a war without end, costing us far too may great young and old Americans and too many limbs and wrecked families and vastly too much money." will become the catch phrase for ALL WARS.
Eventually this kind of thinking will be our nation's death KNELL!!
Why expect anything else? Jim Webb and the MSM both work for the Democrats. In fact, the MSM is just another branch of the Dem Party. They maintain the charade that they're just reporting the news.
One of my cats loves to watch TV, but I've never noticed him listening to the radio. He especially likes the commercials. He watched American Idol with me last night and he couldn't take his eyes off the screen. Even when I distracted him by walking out of the room. His eyes would go right back to watching the TV again. Of course, there were a lot of weirdos jumping around on there last night too, and then there were those who couldn't carry a tune in a basket. Maybe it hurt his ears like it did mine. LOL
"Ben Stein is just now noticing this!"
I don't think so. I think he is just now getting around to writing about it.
No wonder I still like what Bush is doing. I don't have TV, ignore print media and I avoid radio. I pull my news off the internet.
This is a good article.
It is in the first sentence. It is the standard fare of disrespect from liberals, another symptom of BDS.
Personally, I think Tony Snow should have the White House credentials pulled of any media person guilty of this disrespect, and there are many. At the very least, refuse to call on them or allow them to travel with the President.
It is just plain bitterness on their part.
I have known Merle Haggard since I was about 8 yrs old and dealt with him via the "business" I was in up until about 20 yrs ago. I never had a good thing to say about him.
He's addressing a very specific tactic, not the media's broad disdain of President Bush. They've been harsh and biased for the last few years, but the unified effort to portray him as a political non-entity is new.
For myself, I choose not to attack the way Mr. Stein refers to President Bush for two reasons:
1. Considering the names some people in the media and in Congress refer to the President, calling him "Mr. Bush" is downright respectful.
2. Quibbling over how Mr. Stein refers to the President, given the ideas Mr. Stein expresses, seems downright trivial.
Very well written article, thanks for the link.
Iraq was not a mistake, f'n idiot got the rest right, but to say Iraq was a mistake is to claim ignorance of the last 3 decades. Idiot.

Great article, but it says "excerpts." Any idea where the whole thing would be found?
"...my wife had left the radio going with NPR to amuse the cats."
Odd, my cats like NPR also - and they're not even Democrats, I don't think....."
Pelrsonally, I don't think that cats, or dogs, know one party from another. They probably just hear yak yak yak .....
I agree...it irritates me, but I don't think it is worthy of getting worked up about. LOL...your point number one is on the mark!
