flaglady47, as someone who knows absolutely nothing about your quarrel with Chena regarding Olmert other than what I have read in this thread, I can only say: He who asserts must prove. And if you are unwilling to do so, for whatever reason (lack of energy or otherwise), then perhaps you should carefully consider advancing other types of arguments which don't rely entirely on your recollection.
I am brave, I am strong, I am.... CRAZY!!!
I can't look away and I scrutinize with cold detachment. Hehe.
fine, give the 27 million who buy their plans privately - a tax credit.
leave everyone else alone. those 7500/15000 exemption levels will never be raised. like the AMT, 10 years from now given medical inflation rates, it won't be just people with "rich" plans that pay the tax, it will be anyone in the private sector middle class with a job that has a decent plan.
How did you know he was going to do that? You are either Nostradumas reincarnated, a member of Dionne Warwicks Psychic friends network, or an administration insider who got a copy of the speech in advance.
Frankly, I was floored when he even acknowledged the leftist man made climate change BS. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
Twist and shout my dear.... Your premise has changed now, so you throw up a straw man. Not playing your little game here.
Are you incapable of reading your own rants and then responding to those that 'engage' you?
I am still waiting on the link to Bush's health plan that you have all figured out....have you even read it?
I even noticed Lurch giving a standing ovation at least twice. AMAZING!!!!!
I came into this a little late, but quickly saw how angry you were in your posts.
I've been on FreeRepublic since before you even. It really isn't becoming to throw your "age" as a freeper around. We have many very talented newbies here. It is a good thing to have fresh opinions.
Just curious, are you only interested in President Bush's domestic agenda? Where is your interest in his foreign policy?
Just a little suggestion.... you might want to update your freeper homepage. You almost sound like a Bushbot on yours.
Why do you keep this up? What is the point? So, tell me.....do you support Pelosi? Kerry? Edwards? The Dims? If so, state the reason why, please. You don't like the President, like I said before....we ALL know that. So, tell us, who do you like? Who do you support? Obama? Hillary? Who? Or do you just like to bash the President, and most of the people on this thread? What possible good do you think that does? Again, what's the point?
Pretty much 80% of the population between the ages of 15 and 35 have almost no need for health insurance, and would be much better off paying full price for the rare times they need health care than to pay thousands of dollars into insurance.
That is, unless you are a woman and get pregnant (although I have a friend who delivered at home with a midwife pretty cheap). Both my children required c-sections, and one ended up in the hospital for 10 days, and that would have been a little hard for me to pay for myself.
The government rules require employer health plans to cost the same for all workers, I think in order to get them treated as expenses and not income payments, although I'm frankly weak on that subject. The employer CAN make higher-paid employees pay more (my employer does that), and since for many employers you get paid more as you get older, it's in a small way adjusting for increased costs as you get older -- but definitely i'm getting my money's worth now.
My point though wasn't about forcing people to have health insurance, but to ask why a limited government conservative would ever support giving targetted tax breaks only to people who do certain things a certain way, rather than giving all taxpayers an across-the-board tax cut.
Every one of us pays just a LITTLE BIT MORE in taxes, in order to give tax breaks to those who have health insurance, including those with "gold-plated" insurance plans.
If we just wanted to give more tax breaks to people who have to buy their own plans, we'd have to increase taxes ever so slightly more on ALL OF US, to pay for the special tax breaks for the new people.
I'd rather eliminate the entire tax deduction, and go to a flat tax, but since we can't do that I'm happy with a plan that reduces the subsidy a bit for current recipients in order to make the tax deduction more fair for a larger class of people.
FNC NOW.
if you're in the mood.....
He shouldn't get "one more chance". Instead, the people elected to serve our country should give our country EVERY SINGLE CHANCE NEEDED, until we WIN THE WAR.
When people get something for nothing, or very little, they tend to misuse and abuse it. That IS what has happened to not only health insurance, but to all medical care in general.
First, healthcare is not just another commodity to be bartered with, because you, I, and everyone else can die without it. It's not like buying or selling a bag of cookies, or signing up for the services of a masseuse. It is not a barter item. It is your life, in case you didn't know that. So, you would prefer it as it was before where everyone had to sink or swim to get healthcare, rich, poor, or otherwise. Healthcare as part of employee benefits has been around for many years now, and is paid for as part of the benefit/salary package that was offered to you or I when we were hired. We could accept or reject that package at that time. Once hired, it becomes part of what you are being paid, how you are being compensated for the work you do. It is factored in to the total costs of your salary for which you earn by working hard for your employer to earn that salary and the benefit package. You are not getting a benefit for little or nothing. You are working for it your whole life. If you don't like the benefits YOU accrue by being a self-employed entrepreneur, then go get a job at a company. It's your choice to be self-employed and accept the benefits and negative aspects of doing so, just as it is the choice of others to work for small or big companies, and accept their salary offer and benefit package as stated to them. You've got a real chip on your shoulder that someone else might be getting something you aren't, but that's because you chose your own career. Live with it. You probably make more than a lot of people do who work for companies, and can afford to pay for your own health insurance. Just don't foist your choices off on others who made different choices than yours. Don't blame them or agree that their benefits should be ripped off to facilitate other people getting health care plans who may not have worked as hard to be able to afford a good health insurance plan. It's income redistribution no matter how you try to paint it otherwise.
"Apparently it has."
Oh, it caught up with you? So sorry. I won't respond anymore now that I know you can't think clearly.
Are they doing the entire thing over again?
Where is your post on the healthcare agenda?????
I came in late so I didn't read through all the pings to find it.
Funny, I see government-provided special tax breaks for favored health care plans as a form of socialized medicine.
In order to qualify for the tax deductions, I believe an employer plan has to meet government guidelines.
Under Bush's plan, individuals will get to choose the plan THEY like, and whatever plan they choose, they will get the same tax deduction.
That seems more free-market than limiting tax deductions to employer-sponsored plans that meet the government's blessing.
Okay- I tried for a split second.
I guess I will read about it later.
Good job. Next time we ladies will have to do a different thread on the fashion red carpet angle...sorta like Joan & Melissa, rate their outfits, propose new hair styles, clothing colors etc.
Of course the "they" that say it are by-and-large the lunatic fringe of the left. Some people will support the president's proposal, some won't (on both sides). Plenty of people listen to Rush everyday and agree with the majority of what he says but not everything. That seems to be NORMAL for humans. Here's an irony for you, though. You say people that think the same way as Rush about this policy are "mind-numbed robots" but you "admire" Rush's loyalty? So HIS support of the president's plan is "admiral", but ordinary (republican) Americans that might also find some sense in it are "robots" and thus incapable of thinking for themselves? Wow, just wow!
However, America gets the government she deserves. Were I Bush, I'd think the country expected me to move to the left as well. He just went through an election where some of our most conservative leaders (Santorum, Allen, for instance) whose ideology about issues like the border & health care were more in line with people on this board than the president's, lost. (Keep in mind, the president's stance on this issue has NOT changed. I knew before he was elected the first time what his thoughts about the southern border were.)
It's the same with the WOT. Like the Vietnam generation before, it appears that when the going gets tough the people "tire" of war. Our soldiers have the guts and fortitude to stick it out in some of the worst hell-holes on earth and we can't even muster enough resolve to see it through. Once again "we the people" have let the press and the left define the war (and they don't even have to come up with an alternative plan). Those sent to protect us, to fight for us, will, once again pay the harshest price for our fickleness. Frankly, it disgusts me. So, knowing the democrats' policies on the border, health care and Iraq, we opened the door and let the left in. The people on both sides, apparently, have spoken. Bush and the republicans heard it loud and clear. What other message could they get?
YES!!!!!!! Just starting NOW!!!
