Newsmax is referring to the second article WAPost published.

The 1st one had some inconsistancies with it, including this description of what happened to the men in the Taxi;

"According to Fahmi, the young men and their driver turned onto the street and saw the wrecked Humvee and the Marines. Khidher threw the car into reverse, trying to back away at full speed, Fahmi said, and the Marines opened fire from about 30 yards away, killing all the men inside the taxi"

As to the other point, I've never seen NewsMax slammed on FR. WND, yes. But not NewsMax. Maybe I've missed something.

I find this report credible because it jibes with earlier MSM reports. An earlier NY Times report, for instance, quoted a critic of the leaked document as saying, "For every statement A in the report, someone else makes statment B." There was not a hint of this in the WaPo article.

Thanks for the ping Red. I continue to think these cases are going to be dropped for lack of any real incriminting evidence. Shame shit with Libby, Able Danger fiasco, all the stuff not included or ignored by the jerkos during the 9/11 Commission.

There was a time that the mere mention of NewsMax caused one to run for cover!

NewsMax is a Drudge-type site started by a guy from Long Island (I believe) named Carl who used to post here frequently. The site is a tad "low-budget" and, like Drudge, sometimes gets a little over-zealous with the headlines. Often, NewsMax will post a story based on listening to WABC radio interviews. Other times, NewsMax will post stories based on parts of other stories that did not get the proper attention. Stuff like that.

But I believe the site is honest. Carl works hard and I have no doubt that this story is an accurate account of his interview (probably a phone call) with the Marine source.

Kudos to Carl and NewsMax.

Yes, exactly. Few accounts of the Haditha incident agree in detail. That substantiates the allegation that NCIS (and the WaPo) cherry-picked from the witness statements to present a scenario agreed upon in advance. Essentially, the NCIS worked backward from the photographs in Time magazine. John Murtha did the same thing (and, as Justa, pointed out told us what the NCIS report would conclude before the report was written!).

This isn't tinfoil hat land. When Wolf Blitzer on CNN challenged Murtha about how he knew a "massacre" had taken place, Murtha said there were pictures in Time magazine.

Anyone who would behead an infidel would have no qualms about putting a bullet into the head of a corpse or even slitting the throat of a living child for some Technicolor special effects.

Also, Haditha was a hotbed of terrorists and their sympatizers. In a war with the US where the media is used to shape opinion, the terrorists seized on this incident. Our anti-war media, led by Tim "Taliban Turkey" McGirk, and Murtha did the rest.

So here we are. The NCIS is trying to extract "confessions" from innocent men to get this whole thing done and dusted. "Confessions" would put another notch in the NCIS agents' belts, and more scalps on their office walls.
