Why is Israel viewed so differently in Europe than in the United States?

The answer should be because Europeans have never learned how to look themselves in the mirror every day after they let the Holocaust happen before their very eyes.

The UK almost HAS to capitulate to their enemies. They spend all their dollars on socialist programs vs. defense.

The article addresses both of your points. It's worth the read.

Yeah - I started reading it but decided to get my two cents in before the read. LOL

Actually, Bridgette Gabriel and Mark Steyn both make the points about demographics in Europe v the Muslims in their respective books. I went to a lecture in town about the Arab Mind and the military guy who gave the lecture made the same point but it seemed to go right above the heads of most attendees; it's all about the demographics.

I do that often too. I guess if we were 100% opinion free we wouldn't be posting here.

My gawd, he loves to hear himself talk. Must get paid by the word. Does he say in there (I dropped out after the first fifty thousand words) that Europe didn't hate Israel until it was revealed that Israel was the dominant power in the region? Europe hates success.

"The EU now has 27 countries with a GDP over $13 trillion.
If international problems are addressed multilaterally, then Europe has 27 EU nations,
and in international forums like the UN, Europe has more than 30 votes, and the US just one.
"

Easily fixed. The US now has 50 votes. Screw the EU.

No, he didn't mention that as I recall. However, it is otherwise a very comprehensive and interesting article despite what you see as his flaw of not being pithy.

There's one thing, I think, that the author has neglected to address. I would think that part of the European antipathy to the use of military power is how they were affected by WWI and WWII. We have not had a war on our soil (a war, not attacks) essentially since 1812. Whereas there are still people alive who can remember wars devastating Europe, and they have a lengthy history of wars crisscrossing their territory.

You're forgetting the Civil War, amigo. Be careful or some of our southern freepers will remind you that their ancestors knew the sting of occupation, destruction, and defeat. I often think of the Iraq's insurgents as being the equivalent to yesteryear's Ku Klux Klan, although one wouldn't find the MSM so admiring of the KKK.

Yes, the article is on the mark but a little long.

My first reaction to "why" was that they are sucking up to the Arabs: because of their need for oil, because of their envy of the U.S., because of their cultural decay, and because of their demographic collapse, which ensures that the Muslims within their own borders will soon outnumber them.

In other words, they are weak, effete, and incapable of defending themselves. They have seen and admired the "stronger horse," which is the Muslims.

They will soon be very, very sorry. But it will be too late.

Screw the EU.

Contrary to popular opinion, the EU is not our ally. The question is whether they are neutral...or mildly hostile. They aren't an enemy...yet...but that will change with time.

Henceforth, we can probably count on only a few EU countries for support -- the Danes, the Poles and, perhaps, the Czechs, the Bulgars and few other Eastern European countries. Of course, in responding, each will be risking retaliation from the EU bureaucracy.

I fear the next time we call on the Brits, even they will turn their back. So, yes, screw the EU...

..and to think that some of those 27 were recently iron curtain countries. So much for the cold war victory - from hard commies to soft soccies.. some countries get spoiled on too much of a good thing..
