Victory over a foreign aggressor takes fierce resolve more than numerical superiority. The Russian defenders of Stalingrad, who had only recently been allied with Hitler, taught the Nazis all about that. Their losses were terrible, but they inflicted worse on the Wehrmacht. Yes, we always rise to the occasion when required. The question is one of understanding and timing. How many suicidal Jihadists would have to be expended before islam gives up trying to take us down? Under the current arrangement- never. It's death by a thousand cuts. All they have to do is keep making more new jihadists than we have the willpower and capacity to destroy, something they are already doing with great success in Europe. We fail to understand the enemy and their endgame. We simply have to be more ruthless in our methodology of killing great numbers to abate them and retain western civilization dominance, which is all we really can do to them short of committing global genocide.
