I agree with you, BIG lawsuit coming, this to be paid by the unfortunate citizens that elected this bag of scum.
Back when I was a federal law clerk, whenever a new judgeship came open, the judge would not have any cases that he "inherited," having no predecessor, so all the other judges were asked to pick ten cases off their docket to send to the new guy.
Naturally, we picked the ones that barked when you opened the file drawer.
This did not make the new judge or his law clerks very happy!
Unless this assistant state's attorney gets his cases assigned via random docket rotation, he must be wondering who is mad at him!
Of course, the upside is that this one will be easy to get rid of . . .
Drop all charges against the boys, throw Nifong in prison, offer a huge settlement, and hope the boy's families don't sue, or they could end up owning every govt building in NC.

Too bad it couldn't be paid only by the dopes who just re-elected him.
And it was rightly criticized as being an abrogation of their civil rights to do so.
So where are the great self important arbiters of civil rights in the United States?
Where is the ACLU, the NAACP (they allege that they are concerned about civil rights for all Americans), the SPLC, the ADL, the entire civil rights alphabet soup of organizations?
That's right. Nowhere in sight. They smiled and smirked at the sight of a twisted SOB trying to advance his own career at the expense of the lives of three citizens.
Did they jump in saying that an egregious violation of the civil rights of the defendants was being perpetrated? No.
It was all OK. Who cares if they weren't guilty and being falsely accused? Serves them right. Payback for 400 hundred years of oppression! Even if they weren't guilty, why, they're white, so make them pay!
The whole lie of the so-called "civil rights" organizations and their entire movement is exposed here. They care nothing for civil rights, they care only about seizing power by whatever means for their client groups.
What is the racial makeup of his district? The guy would probably win in a landslide.
Next he needs to be sent to federal PMITA prison.
