And .. I read another account which said that this raid TOOK PLACE AS BUSH WAS GIVING HIS SPEECH.
In other words, as Bush was warning Iran and Syria that he was going to challenge their interference in Iraq - the helicopters full of troops were landing in the courtyard of the Embassy in Irbil, and the people inside the Embassy were told (in 3 languages) - SURRENDER OR DIE!
That's the ticket!! Take it to them and make it clear what your intentions are.
I understand a BIGGIE Iranian Islamist was captured in that raid - don't know the guy's name. So our statements about Iran interferring were true - and one of the leaders of the Iranian terrorists was making his home inside the Iranian Embassy in Irbil - cute!

Begs the question. Since we have troops in Iraq fighting terrorists, why do troops need Presidential approval before going after suspected terrorists? Because they were Iranian? What other possible terrorists are on the Presidential list that needs approval before going after? Your assumptions are sloppy.

Queen Pelosi will surely conduct a congressional inquiry into this. Did Mr Bush overstep his authority? how dare he take action without cnsulting with Queen Pelosi first!

Lets not forget that it only quite recently that the Bush Administration was pushing for conditionless talks with the Iranians over Iraq. Hopefully whoever dreamed up THAT idiocy has been fired from Bush's inner circle regardless of the person's "loyalty."

There is nothing quite like sending your military to fight a war with terrorists while one hand is tied behind their back. The Iranian incursions into Iraq should have been interdicted years ago, but we are fighting a PC war. It reminds me of a scene in Band of Brothers when a British tanker refused to shoot at an unseen enemy tank in Holland because he had orders not to damage the town infrastructure. His tank was destroyed shortly after his PC moment and the Germans leveled the town while chasing the Americans out.

No kidding. For crying out loud the amount of political micromanaging (or is it macro) that is done to our military....it is a wonder that they can get anything done.

>>The MSM and Pelosi's gang will spin this as an evil act.<<
The nightmare scenario in Iraq is a regional war with at least Syria, Iran and Turkey - criticism or not, the President is right to head off outside military from entering.

If Patton was around he would start a war with Iran and make it look like the Iranians started it. And he would be in Tehran by Sunday morning. Patton's capture of Palermo redux: "Yes I took it. Do you want me to give it back?" [to the mullahs)

The media should be removed and let our Troops and the Iraqi troops do the job. We should get the Iraqi to ask us to remove our media. It is their land.
