"Now which translation of the Bible do you hold as the correct and inerrant version? Just curious."

Inerrency only applies to the original manuscripts by the ineerentists. The fact that you don't know that shows how woofully ignorant you are on the issue.

What capacity?

I assume you don't know what a non-sequitur is?

ASC, I see you already found this thread.

Old Friend,my mind boggles at this, but apparently Clinton and Carter are setting up their own group of Baptists...a pseudo-denomination, I guess one would call it.

Unbelievable. How these two have the nerve to do this I just don't know.

At least when stuff like this happens in the Catholic church, we have excommunication as a last resort. I don't know what the Baptists can do.

Underwood, of Mercer, said the new group simply represents Baptists who decided "to focus on ideas that bind us together —- like feeding the hungry and caring for the sick."

As well as screwing our country and f####ng the Jews, if Jimmah has anything to do with it.

I'm afraid that his antisemitic leaning is his real motivation. Most of the others in the movement are probably there because of other more fundamental reasons and are not antisemit. Carter as well as Clinton are users and will try to find any forum that gives them credibility. S. Baptists have a strong history of splitting churches over disagreements. Usually over the minister.

"Carter and Clinton said they want to counter concerns that Baptists have been "negative"

Jimmy Carter, tireless cultivator of Bitter Herbs, assails negativity, but finds no cause to begin in his own garden.

This is part of the plan to take as many Evangelicals into the Demo party as possible, right out of MadDog Dean's playbook.

As an SBCer I am embarassed that these two were ever in the SBC. Forming their own denomination for the purposes of politics is simply disgusting. I predict a major failure with this initiative.

I cannot begin to describe the disgust I feel for these two. Words fail me.

"Since I'm a new testament kind of person I wasn't being humorous at all. I guess your a Hebrew."

Just leave the thread now while you still can. Stop trying to cover up for the fact you slandered the biblical inerrentists in your denomination when you don't even know what biblical inerrency even is. When you reject confessionalism and reject biblical inerrency, then you might as well give up and go play golf or watch oprah. I would have just loved to see your churches motto if there was no "conservative resurgence", "No Creed But This Errant Bible".

There's one of these congregations near us. My impression is that they are basically reactive to perceived "inflexibiiity" and deeply value being thought of as "cool." I remember the days when what you wore to church was a big deal (nowadays everybody seems to dress on Sunday like they do for Monday night football). In an odd sort of way, the Emergent church where I am seems a throwback to that earlier custom in that lots of young folk seem to vie with one another to arrive at church as provocatively dressed as possible, sort of the flip side of Grandma's day when there was something of a "women's hat competition" going on.

"Comfy Christianity for Hip Young'uns" is what it looks klike to me.

Your really are off the deep end. You don't have a clue about me. I don't remember slandering anyone. Disagreement is not slander.

Do you often threaten people? Get help! The reference to confessionalism is a strong indicator that you are very uptight and can not take criticism or even debate in a rational manner as you believe that you are the only one correct and have no room for error.

Please tell me your not a Southern Baptist so I can sleep at night. We are in Afghanistan fighting people like you.
