I Dunno....Fred Fielding was one of the lead contenders for Deep Throat during the Nixon Administration. He was a white counsel with John Dean during the Watergate upheaval. Considered a moderate and a conciliator. A principle in one of the most prestigious law firms in Washington. Part of the Old Guard.
Depends on what your looking for...If you want someone who advises caution and analysis Fielding is your guy. If you want someone who counsels aggressiveness and confrontation Fielding isn't your guy.

In a signal that he could be open to working more closely with congressional Democrats rather than stonewalling, Regardless of what he's open to, the situation has changed drasticially with both houses moving to the opposition party. I would imagine there will be cooperation in some areas and stonewalling in others. We shall see.

Damn, he must be old.
H.R. Haldeman once accused Fielding of being Deep Throat.

It is VERY good news. Fielding knows where all the bodies are buried. No one in Congress will intimidate him.

Fred Fielding served on the 9/11 Commission, where evidently the Republicans gave Richard Ben-Veniste and Jamie Gorelick anything they wanted; he will be a disaster as White House counsel.

It was a close race between he and a Kennedy's nephew. Toss up.

At first glance on Drudge, I got so excited that my heart began racing...I thought he chose the Great One.

It says he was on the 9/11 Commission...he must be the ONLY one that didn't do the talk show circuit afterwards...
But, I am very, very excited about him because both you and HOWLIN like this choice!!!
That makes me so happy!!!

He was a frequent recipent of intelligence briefings; a pleasant gentleman and a very competent person; a good choice and perhaps a sane voice in an otherwise irrational White house.
