Dunno about that, I think it costs more than most homes are worth!

I still think the Plasma and DLP displays just "look" better than LCD.

one-speaker surround-system

This has to be a joke or a typo.

I have always wanted a 140" plasma for my bathroom. I guess I will just have to wait.

That would probably become a 'family affair.' LOL All the kiddos would want to watch the big screen TV. ;o)

--The problem with LCDs ( they have improved on it ) is that they degrade over time.--

I am not sure what you are referring to.

LCD's have improved tremendously in the last few months. I am still not satisfied with the dim picture of the DLPs.

Have they improved "black levels" and all that on them?

Yes. All the technologies are improving at record rates.

Projection has the most bang for the buck but the gap is closing quickly. DLP requires bulb change outs making them less economical that at first glance.

Get plasma or lcd if you view a lot in bright rooms. LCDs are lighter and give off less heat.

I looked at an LED projection TV and it seemed similar to DLP but no concern over bulb lifetime.

Personally, I would wait for the laser projection TVs but may have to keep the wife happy and buy one of the new plasmas this summer.

Lcds have a problem of degrading over time during use.
The panels lose it's colors as in, turning yellow and green. sort of like a picture would from the Sun's ultraviolet light were a picture fades from sun light.

Your background on projectors clued me in. LCD projectors DO have degradation problems but that is generally not a problem with panels.

BTW ? did you check out that news article on Yahoo about the Space Pillars ?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20070109/sc_space/pillarsofcreationtoppledbystellarblast.
They say that the space pillars that the Hubble Space Telescope back in 1995 was collapsed by a super nova.
That is incredible.

Here is the Space Pillars back in 1995.
