He's not just looking for something better. He wants to trash the guy who might win the nomination, the guy who many conservatives feel could be a solid candidate, and thereby give aid and comfort to the libs.

That is utter nonsense. I have done nothing to trash McCain. I post links to information about him that has never been challenged much less refuted on this board. McCain has trashed himself.

The facts reveal McCain to be as bad or worse than any Dem who might be put up against him. The R Party hasn't nominated anyone yet. If you don't want (and I don't) a complete looney tunes self-aggrandizing RINO to run as the R nominee the time is now to find and support someone else. Only a weakling who doesn't believe in the principles of self-governance would accept that the MSM or the RNC bigwigs have the power to control who gets the nomination. If that's your POV there isn't any reason to be interested in the process at all. It means 'the people' are not part of it in the first place. I don't accept that sort of victimhood mentality.

If McCain wins the nomination, it will be because he received the most primary votes. That's the way it works. If he runs in 08, and you continue to trash him, you'll be helping to usher in a Democrat president. You do what you want. But I think anyone who can't see the differences between a liberal Dem and John McCain ought to be real careful when using the term "loony."

McCain frightens me. Down right scary. Never know what he's going to say or do.

I'm doing everything I can to prevent his nomination. I am not acting like it's a done deal. RR would never passively accept a future that hasn't come to pass yet. He would actively work to prevent disaster not wring his hands over its inevitability.

I have produced abundant evidence that McCain is as bad or worse than any Dem out there. I am in good company in my opinion of him in any case.

Three FReeper polls about McCain running for President...

"According to a posted article entitled "McCain Starts Planning for 2008 Run" Senator John McCain is considered the front-runner for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination. Would you be for or against McCain?"

Composite Opinion

against 90.1% 6,630
for 9.9% 725

"If Romney, McCain, and Giuliani were the only names on the ballot for the GOP 2008 nomination, whom would you vote for?"

Composite Opinion

Giuliani 44.8% 3,233
Romney 28.6% 2,059
Sit it out 21.2% 1,527
McCain 5.4% 391

How would you vote if it's McCain vs Hillary in '08?

Composite Opinion

Third Party 39.1% 2,732
McCain 34.9% 2,440
Sit it out 13.2% 923
Undecided 7.8% 549
Hillary 5.0% 352

You can keep peeing into the wind if you want but most FReepers will obviously work to get someone else nominated. It's the difference between seeing reality for what it is and sitting on your hands and complaining.

WWRRD? (What would Ronald Reagan do?)
