Haditha case likely to have repercussions: Experts say it could change the Marines

Agreed. My major interest is that the Marines get a fair trial.

Unfortunately, I don't think that can just be taken for granted. There's a lot of people, including JAG types in the Corps, who see these guys as nothing but symbols who they can use to send a message. That's the politics you're taking about and it goes beyond a single jackass like John Murtha.

All I know is this. When the gov't wants to use a guy like you or me to send a message, you better pray you have some friends somewhere. I'm trying to be a friend to the Marines. If they're guilty, so be it. I've had guilty friends before. Let's just see a fair trial.
