People tend to "get it" when they understand that Gravinia Island is bigger than the State of Israel and has half a billion dollars worth of timber on it!

I didn't take a stand on whether or not "you" should subsidize it - something being needed and how it will be paid for are too different issues. But the argument that it is "worthless" is not valid.
How it is funded and whether it is needed are two different things.

You've either got Gravina Island forty times too big or Israel forty times too small. Israel is 8020 square miles. Gravina Island is less than 200 square miles.
So you'll understand I'm wondering how you tallied up the stumpage.
Ok, it is not worthless to some but it is to those who they want to pay for it.
Just as I shouldn't have to pay for say midnight basket ball in Seattle.
