Didn't Rumsfeld just say that the Navy was considering naming the next carrier after Ford. There is a veterans group that wants it named "America"

Insert obligatory GM joke here...

Thanks to the liberal news media who ran rough-shod over conservatives in the 70's, Ford was easily the most under-appreciated president of my lifetime.

I think we should consider another Midway to honor those who turned the tide.

Design work on the new generation aircraft carrier program, CVN 21, is underway at Northrop Grumman Newport News with the full construction contract anticipated in 2007.

When Bill Clinton pegs, will they name a bathysphere the USS Monica Lewinsky?
To: capt. norm
Anyone have an idea what type boat would be named after Clinton? I suggest a garbage scow in the Vietnamese Navy.

The USS America was sunk on May 20, 2005. She was used as a test platform to develop better structural and damage control assets.

Actually the ex-USS America was scuttled off of Virgina on May 14, 2005 following its use in explosive tests.
