Just for fun, find Georgia's Megan's Law web site, and put in your zipcode.
I hear ya. I was on a date with a friend's brother-someone I'd known for years-when I was 16...wish I'd had a cell phone then. I had to ride home afterwards with the #)*$e%)*.
You are blessed then, a look at the sex offender registry for my state was chilling, there seemed to be offenders everywhere.
I would agree with that.
What agenda would that be?
I guess it was just different - my mom didn't feel the need to keep in constant touch with me especially if I were at school, etc. If I had a problem I called her, and I realize that there are not as many pay phones now but I find it hard to believe that schools won't call parents in an emergency.
I got a cell phone when they first came out. I learned to hate them. Mainly it is a waist of time. Someone is always calling you saying, "where you at?" I am like, Does it matter? This is while i am working.
Answering machines is the way to go.
Yup!!
Already have. There is one right around the corner. So what? Do you know how many registered sex offenders are there because of things that have nothing to do with "snatching" kids?
The facts are still plain - the vast majority of children will NEVER be molested by a stranger - but by a family member. A cell phone isn't going to change that.
I guess eventually they'll have little trackers built into their skin so they can't be gps'd on a moments notice.
Yes it is but trust me they aren't everywhere. Look at the statistics. An average child has an infitestimal chance of being molested by a stranger or snatched by one. A much greater chance of being snatched by a parent or molested by a family member or friend, unfortunately.
It is hard to find a pay phone. Have you seen where most pay phones are located?
*sigh* Yeah. If their mommies don't care, the goverment will...
I will concede that pay phones are a vanishing breed, probably because of cell phones! At least most gas stations still have them - at least around here.
