No he did not! Please tell me he did not say that!!! Please!
Falls under every medical benefit known to man I think. ;*)
Ford appointed when Nixon resigned, but is an impeachment different in that respect?
If nannypoop (stretch for short) is two heartbeats away from the oval office due to succession does that figure in here somehow?
President Nixon appointed Senator Ford to the vice-presidency after vice-president Spiro Agnew resigned to go to jail for tax evasion; the Senate confirmed Ford to his new post. Ford then ascended to the Presidency on the resignation of Nixon. If a vacancy occurs in the office of vice-president, then the President can appoint a new vice-president, subject to Senate confirmation. Confirmation requires 61 votes under current rules, and I doubt that those votes ever will materialize unless Bush appoints someone of the ideology and stature of Harry Reid.
If the Congress impeaches, convicts, and removes President Bush, then the vice-president succeeds to the Presidency. But if Congress first or simultaneously impeaches, convicts, and removes vice-president Cheney, then that creates a vacancy in the office of vice-president. In the case of a vacancy in both offices of president and vice-president, then the Presidency devolves upon the Speaker of the House, presently Nancy Pelosi. The Democrats understand these facts, and they therefore aim to remove both the vice-president and the president under the impeachment process.
I'm still shaking my head in disbelief as I'm not sure how to respond to the mentally insane.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL"
"If Bush were to act with without involving the new Democratic-controlled Congress, he can anticipate "a lot of hearings, a lot of study, a lot of criticism," Lugar said."
Enjoy your time in the minority, Dick. You're more comfortable there anyway.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL"
Ford was House Minority Leader, not a Senator.
That was exactly what the response was about. I kept it for a while, but ditched it because it irritated me so much. Dick Lugar DOES need to {put a sock in it}
What really got to me was that I had voted for him in the past. He may have an R by his name, but he is not a Republican IMHO. He is an elitist.
Sounds a lot like my SINator Warner.
If I call his office, I won't give them my name explaining that I DO NOT want some inane letter from him that has nothing to do with the subject I called about.
What is worse was the letter had a snotty tone to it. Lugar is an example of someone who has been there too long and now only represents himself. He comes back to Indiana to slum it once a year and run his little fitness walk and run. Thats about it.
I'm quite sure that would apply to 25-33% of the SINate. Those that have been seat holders for 18-40+ years!
