I agree. They should have figured this out beforehand and before anyone had to be embarrassed, etc. Too bad.
I just happened to catch the end of the program where they said it was a storm and he had to get into a weather shelter. When someone says STORM, and since I live in central NY, I always assume SNOW. I wondered what poor Texas had done to deserve a snowstorm. I guess it can happen there...
Thank you! It is now 1:20 a.m., January 1 and so far it's been a great New Year! Love, Maryxxx
He just looked very tired or very bored to me. He IS getting older--like all of us. LOL.
I always remember my sig line but I still get ticked off. Am very glad God's in control and not ME. I'd have lightning bolts all over the place...
The Ford family DOES control what goes on at this presidential funeral.
It is unreal, the extent to which President Bush is criticized and torn apart. I can't believe my eyes. Even Free Republic is not a refuge from the constant carping.
WaPo doing spin, that's all that need be said re the article/headline.
ME TOO!!! ;)
Rarely ;^D
Happy New Year to you, too!
LOL............... I have to write all my stuff down on notes.
Whatever it was, I cut them slack. Michael's father has died. He was at his bedside and gave him the last rites and watched him pass away. No doubt he took on the roll of trying his best to comfort his mother while dealing with his own grief. All of them must have slept almost none and been exhausted. I hope it wasn't personal towards Cheney. Mrs. Ford seems close to the Cheneys. For all their sakes I hope it was just the extreme circumstances.
I think you replied to the wrong Freeper.
None of my comments implied any criticism of President Bush.
Happy New Year!
I believe New Mexico was also impacted by the Colorado snowstorm, as they said Sec. Rumsfeld could not get away from there to be back for the Capitol service. He served with Ford in the House as well as his Sec Def. But that was as close as it got to Crawford, TX...New Mexico...and that's a few hundred miles. Tornadoes were a big problem, though.
You don't mess around with those. There's a town of about 600 people named Jarrell, which is not very far southeast of Crawford. When Bush was governor, a maximum force tornado virtually destroyed the town of Jarrell. It really was one of the most horrific tornadoes ever recorded, and it drew a dead bead on the little town.
President Bush has never forgotten that. And the SS has to be extremely proactive as well.
I thought I read she was going to represent her family at the funeral.
I also read who was going to represent the Reagans but forgot. I think I read Nancy wants to but can't.
Air Force One and Two are grounded under a lot less conditions for obvious reasons than a regular plane.
We don't get tornados here. I think one microburst hit the fairground in Syracuse during the state fair one year and lots of trees blew over in the entire area. Two people died at the fairgrounds. One little microburst hit Waterville one year and ripped off some roofs in the downtown stores but we're most apt to have severe thunderstorms with some wind (and of course blizzards in winter). Trees blow over but little else happens, for which I am very grateful.
I think I was referring to the comment you made about the Christmas decorations and thought you were being facetious/sarcastic toward him. If I'm wrong, please forgive me. I get weary of the Bush bashing that goes on here. Seems like the man can't do anything right with some of the FReepers lately. Love, M
It might be fun though (smile). I have a few in mind...
This is not hard to figure out, they were ALL at home for Christmas.
One of the things I like most about President Bush is his concern for those who serve him and the First Family. Spending the holidays away from the White House gives the staff there a break.
Let's hope their next boss is equally considerate.
