Sounds disturbingly familiar even today.
Not necessarily, Ford favored the transfer of the canal to Panama as did John Wayne and William F. Buckley, Jr.
BTTT
I did not realize back then that the media had so much power. I sure do now. It is tempered by the internet, but still not completely.
I plan to come.
Yes..
That's where we truly need closure!
Oh, and that bastard too.
What a great story. Thanks for sharing.
So what happens to Queen Nancy's coronation???
I'm so glad we are not hearing of romps in the Lincoln bedroom!
Woodward has been out all day and night playing a tape of Ford bashing the war in iraq and basically stopping short of calling Ford a liberal republican.
Even in Ford's death...CNN's Larry King managed to bash Bush tonight.
Every day the influence of the internet grows. The print media is dying. Just a few short years ago each of the major networks had rating in the 25 to 30 range. Today all three networks combined have a ratings of less than 25.
People under 40 are not taking newspapers or watching the major network news.
But to go from victory to defeat the votes of less than 5 percent of the voters need to change.
I am always angered by those so called conservatives who trash Republican office holders for not getting their message out. The truth is only the "message" we get are the "messages" the media decides to report.
If only one or two percent of the voters talked to other voters about media bias and the true conservative views, then it would be very very hard for the media to control what voters believe.
If you want to know who can defeat the media's attempts to control votes, then look in the mirror... If the person you see in the mirror and those that think like us make a real effort the media cannot control who wins elections. They did it to us in 2006.. we need to prevent that in 2008.
Sounds like a very fitting tribute to one of our country's best.
There is no bottom of the barrel for the left.
She'll at least get the silverware and the "W's" from the keyboards.........
Rest in peace, Mr President.
The public will be invited to line the motorcade route from the airport to the repose at the museum. The motorcade will proceed north along Patterson Avenue, east on 28th Street to Int. 96, then west to downtown Grand Rapids and the museum.
The public also will be invited to an overnight repose, guided single-file through the museum's first floor past the casket.
Museum deputy director Jim Kratsas said this morning that employees are moving ahead with a "heavy heart. Almost everyone on staff has met the president and his family.
"Everyone realizes that the eyes of the world will be on Grand Rapids. We want everything to be perfect."
On the day of Ford's burial, the museum tentatively is scheduled to close the public repose at noon. Private services will be at Grace Episcopal Church in East Grand Rapids. The public is invited to line the route to and from services at the church at 1815 Hall St. SE.
The route from the museum will follow Monroe Avenue NW to West Fulton Street, then east to Lake Drive SE, southeast to Plymouth Avenue, and south to Hall Street.
At the conclusion of services, family members will return to the museum for a private burial ceremony.
In keeping with his wishes, Ford will be laid to rest on the north side of the museum overlooking the Grand River and the city he called home much of his life. Betty Ford, his wife of 58 years, will join him upon her death.
See my post above if you're interested in paying tribute to President Ford when he comes home to MI.
Below is a map of the viewing process of Ford's body at the museum bearing his name in Grand Rapids. Visitors will walk to the museum with the route starting at the DeVos Place Grand Gallery. They will then walk across the pedestrian bridge to the museum and pass by the president's casket. The return route crosses the Pearl Street Bridge.
