Democrats routinely campaign in Churches with no repercussion. They could just go around the country holding rallies in churches and have Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson stand behind them.

They do it every election! It's only wrong when Republicans do it. Just ask the OLD MEDIA and that hypocrite Barry Lynn of Americans for Separation of Church & State (which only goes after Conservative Christians).

Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) his new role as the House majority whip.

James E. Clyburn, a former teacher and employment counselor, is a leader among African-American Congressmen and served as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus.

******

DEMOCRATIC PARTY leaders and progressive religious activists are persevering in their separate but complementary efforts to shape a connection between faith and polities.

"It's a miracle that we stayed together after the election," said Bob Edgar, general secretary of the National Council of Churches, referring to an ongoing "movement" among like-minded faith activists.

Edgar, a United Methodist minister and former congressman, said that every Thursday a telephone conference call takes place involving about 40 progressive religious figures, including Jim Wallis of the Call to Renewal movement, James Forbes of New York's Riverside Church, Welton Gaddy of the Interfaith Alliance and David Saperstein, a Reform rabbi in Washington, D.C. The discussions, which began around Labor Day, are hosted by the Washington-based Center for American Progress (CAP), founded in 2003 by John Podesta, who was chief of staff at the Clinton White House. The sessions are coordinated by CAP senior fellow Melody Barnes, a former counsel to Senator Edward Kennedy.

The Democrats twice added religious advisers, then suddenly pulled back on each of them. In June, not long after Kerry's team appointed Mara Vanderslice, a socially liberal evangelical, as director for religious outreach, party officials told her not to talk to the press. In August the DNC's newly named senior adviser for religious outreach, Brenda Bartella Peterson, a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) minister, was asked to resign after only eight days on the job.

Both steps were taken after William Donohue, head of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, fired off news releases pointing to issues in the two appointees' pasts. "Why are Kerry and the DNC imploding on religion?" Donohue asked. "Because too many of the elites running the show are devout secularists who put a premium on freedom from religion."

"She acknowledges that she still struggles with common evangelical ideas about abortion, homosexuality, and the literal reading of Scripture, according to the Times."

This quote reconciles with my initial reaction which was "if someone counseling dim's to victory is an evangelical, then I am Mahatma Ghandi". It is not possible to be an evangelical Christian and reconcile with the dim agenda.

she is willing to spend money to try to convince a few stupid people that she is really a nice believer, that she goes to church, and other lies.

Well? Seems to have worked well enough for Republicans. They've created an entire subset of voters that would vote for them no matter what just because they're not the other guy. Don't get me wrong, Democrats have those groups as well. And what's sad is groups like that on either side no longer look at a candidate's position to see if they agree or disagree with that position. They just vote because they don't want their 'enemy' to get into power. May as well just flip a coin if we're going to do that. Would save on time, money, and me having to listen to a pack of liars every 2-4 years that say one thing and do the opposite once in office.

Politicians, all politicians, are alike. They're in it to get elected, get into power, and stay in power. Hillary sees this as an opportunity to garner vote from a group of people that have belonged, rightly or wrongly, to Republicans.

Would I vote for Clinton? No more than I would vote for the Republican candidate (and we don't even know who that's going to be). Six of one, half dozen of the other.

Putting Democratic Values in Action

The House Democratic Faith Working Group provides Members of strong faith with a venue to share their values and to collaborate with other people of faith on issues of mutual concern. The Group works with faith communities on common values such as ending poverty, improving schools, protecting Social Security, speaking out against greed and materialism (unless it BENEFITS THEM), providing better housing, seeking a clean and livable planet and fighting for social and economic justice for all Americans.

When Hillary & Pelosi use THEIR MONEY to benefit anyone but themselves I might start to believe them. I don't worry for one minute that I will ever have to believe them. They are too greedy to use their money for others. But they expect everyone else to abide by their wishes or otherwise they will make it LAW and demand that YOU HELP.

Democratic Faith Working Group - We Must Fight Provisions that Would Deny Voter Registration

Rabbi David Saperstein Condemns Budget Slashing

“The Democratic agenda is deeply rooted in faith, but we have been less effective than we could be in communicating how our moral values guide our policies,” Clyburn said. “I look forward to leading House Democrats' efforts to more effectively communicate our Democratic values, which are fundamentally American values.”

The Group works with faith communities on common values such as fighting poverty, improving schools, speaking out against materialism and greed, providing better housing, and fighting for social and economic justice.

October 20, 2005
The Democratic Faith Working Group today issued the following statement opposing
restrictions, supported by the Republican majority, on non-profit organizations that apply for
grants through the Affordable Housing Fund established in H.R. 1461. The provisions disqualify
any non-profit organization, including faith-based groups, that engage in voter registration,
voter identification, get-out-the-vote, and other non-partisan voter participation activities from
being eligible for the Affordable Housing Fund grants.

LIAR JOHN PODESTA of the CLINTON CRIME GANG!!!

Faith, Politics & Progressives: A Conversation with John Podesta
Tuesday, April 26, 2005
Pew Research Center
Washington, D.C.

PODESTA: Well, I'd say a couple of things. I was looking at a piece from the L.A. Times this morning that Peter Wallsten did on Janice Rogers Brown as one of the nominees. She gave a speech in Connecticut over the weekend, where she said that people of faith are embroiled in a war against secular humanists – this country's been so bitterly divided – it's not a shady war, but it's a war – these are perilous times for people of faith.

I think it's hard to look at America and think that this is a true statement of where we're at. Particularly if you look at this in comparison to other areas in the world. We have a very strong faith tradition. It's respected here. Most people proclaim a belief in God. They're free to worship where they want to. I think that in the Clinton administration, we tried to do as much as possible to enable people to cut through some of the weeds, particularly in the educational arena, about where expressions of faith could take place to create a space where religious free exercise wasn't being hobbled.

But on notion that the judiciary is to blame – you know, I could quote Dr. Dobson on his view of the court's majority, which doesn't care about the sanctity of life as a judicial tyranny to people of faith. I mean, who are we talking about? Bill Rehnquist? You know, seven of the nine justices were appointed by Republicans. So I think, what are we talking about? I think that people need to challenge that notion. It's their view, but I don't think it does reflect the reality in American life today. And I think from the perspective of the way Progressives or Democrats talk about religion, my advice is that the most important thing is to try to be authentic.

If you come from a faith tradition and you're comfortable expressing it, then you ought to go out there and do it, and I think people will respect you for it. And I don't think that the secular elements, if you will, or the non-believing elements of the broad Progressive coalition will think less of one for that. But I think there has been a little bit in the political world. There's been a bit of silencing, and I think that needs to be matched through active engagement.

The Center for American Progress is a progressive think-tank dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through ideas and action.

We are creating a long-term, progressive vision for America—a vision that policy makers, thought-leaders and activists can use to shape the national debate and pass laws that make a difference.

The Center for American Progress is headed by John D. Podesta, former chief of staff to President William J. Clinton and a professor at Georgetown University Center of Law.

John Podesta

John David Podesta was appointed president and CEO of the Center for American Progress (CAP) at its founding on July 7, 2003. He was hand-picked for the job by CAP founders George Soros and Morton H. Halperin, according to a March 1, 2004 report in The Nation by Robert Dreyfuss.

Inside sources have described CAP as "the official Hillary Clinton think tank" - a media spin machine and policy generator designed to serve as a springboard for Hillary's presidential ambitions.

During his years in the Clinton White House, Podesta played a uniquely unsavory role. He helped suppress numerous federal investigations into Clinton wrongdoing, and helped short-circuit the Clinton impeachment proceedings through shady backroom deals.

The Clintons recognized Podesta's talent for scandal suppression early. While still a mere staff secretary at the White House in 1993, Podesta found himself swamped with so many scandal clean-up assignments that he nicknamed himself, "Secretary of [Expletive]."

"He's good at it," James Carville remarked to the Washington Post.

Project Podesta

Podesta's most lasting contribution to the leftist cause came through his promotion of a strategy that White House aides dubbed "Project Podesta." This was a system that enabled the Clintons to push through unpopular policies that neither Congress nor the American people wanted. Its implementation marked a dramatic tilt in the balance of power, giving the executive branch an unprecedented ability to force its will on the legislative branch.

Project Podesta enabled the president to bypass Congress through the use of executive orders; presidential decision directives; White-House-sponsored lawsuits; vacancy appointments to high federal office; selective regulatory actions against targeted corporations; as well as a host of other extra-constitutional tactics.

Podesta showed the Clintons they could gain by force what they might fail to achieve through legislation.

"Stroke of the pen. Law of the land. Kind of cool," quipped White House aide Paul Begala to The New York Times on July 5, 1998, in response to questions about the Clintons' growing disdain for the will of Congress.

After Mississippi attorney Dick Scruggs led the White-House-sponsored law suit that squeezed $246 billion out of tobacco companies in 1998, Time magazine asked Scruggs whether trial lawyers were "trying to run America" - taking on a lawmaking role that properly belonged to Congress.

"Somebody's got to do it," Scruggs laughed.

Project Podesta's most ambitious exercise was the war on Yugoslavia which Clinton launched by executive order on April 13, 1999, in defiance of the U.S. Congress and even in the face of United Nations condemnation - an organization whose sensitivities the Clintons normally indulged.

When US News and World Report first revealed the existence of Project Podesta on November 1, 1999, two Congressional hearings convened to investigate the Clintons' abuse of executive power. But the investigators issued no reports and took no action.

Regarding Podesta's war of attrition against tobacco firms and gun manufacturers, even Clinton's former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich warned fellow leftists in the January 17, 2000 issue of The American Prospect, "You might approve the outcomes in these two cases, but they establish a precedent for other cases you might find wildly unjust. … [T]hese lawsuits are blatant end-runs around the democratic process."

No, more like John Podesta

created by John Podesta, Bill Clinton’s former chief of staff, and George Soros’ current point man at the Center for American Progress. Podesta’s site, called Think Progress is one of many that Podesta has launched from his 501©3 cum Political Action Committee. Podesta site which is part of its regular feature “Radical Right-wing Agenda.”

Democratic presidential aspirant and Podesta friend Al Sharpton

Podesta site’s source for 'information' is MediaMatters, a site created and run by the self-confessed liar, Soros-protégé and Podesta ally, David Brock. MediaMatters is entirely dedicated to the slander of Republicans and conservatives and has no other evident purpose.

******

John had given a donation to the DNC that he said occurred while employed by his brother Tony, a powerful D.C. lobbyist. However, this donation took place when John was actually employed at the White House for Bill Clinton.

John took great pains to quickly change the donation record at the FEC to reflect the fact that he was indeed employed at the White House. It is the only such donation he made while working for Clinton.

Yet, the donation record opened a whole new world of documentation hidden inside the Clinton White House. John Podesta ran the Clinton policy for high-tech computer exports at the same time his brother - and former employer - ran the lobby effort for high-tech U.S. computer companies.

Supercomputers for China and Russia

In the early 1990s, several U.S. computer CEOs formed a joint lobby organization called the CSPP, or Computer Systems Policy Project. By 1994 Tony Podesta, the brother of John Podesta, ran the multimillion-dollar corporate lobby effort through his firm, Podesta Associates, using an employee, Ken Kay, as the CSPP executive director.

In 1994, the CSPP association with Tony Podesta quickly paid off. Several CSPP members won exclusive trade deals through Clinton and Ron Brown. CEO James Treybig of Tandem went with Ron Brown on a trade trip to China in August 1994. Treybig concluded an exclusive $150 million export of mission-control computers for the Chinese Army Long March space rocket.

In June 1995, Ken Kay led the delegation of CSPP CEOs into a closed meeting inside the White House. In this closed meeting, the CEOs from AT&T, Apple, Compaq, Digital, HP, Unisys, Cray, Silicon Graphics, Tandem and others were sworn to secrecy. The CEOs could not talk under penalty of law.

The Clinton administration made top-secret designs and top-secret contracts available to the CSPP computer companies. In exchange for their cooperation and silence, the companies would be given lucrative export deals and access to even more advanced technology left over from the cold war.

Yet, while it is true that CSPP members thrived on high-tech exports authorized by the Clinton administration, it is also true that Clinton and Gore thrived on the millions of dollars in donations and soft money made available from CSPP members such as Apple, AT&T, Digital and Silicon Graphics.

For example, once inside the White House the CSPP CEOs were given a detailed briefing by a State Department expert on supercomputers and nuclear weapons. Shortly after the meeting, CSPP member Silicon Graphics sold several supercomputers to a Russian nuclear weapons lab under the pretense of "civilian" uses.

Waiver or Pardon?

Nor is the Clinton cronyism hard to find. In response to a request for an interview, White House lawyers acknowledged that John Podesta did indeed have a conflict of interest problem with his brother Tony and the CSPP. According to White House counsel, in 1997 President Clinton solved the Podesta problem by signing a legal waiver absolving John Podesta of any conflict of interest. Clinton has to date refused to show the legal waiver obtained by John Podesta. Nor did Clinton's attorneys explain why John Podesta felt it necessary to obtain a waiver in 1997 for actions he took in 1994 and 1995.

Of course, a legal waiver for possible criminal actions committed in the past is not a waiver but a pardon.

It is just this kind of activity that FBI Director Freeh missed inside the White House. Freeh had so many scandals coming at him on a daily basis, it was hard to decide which to investigate - so he elected to investigate none.
