Why is it surprising that someone who does stupid things is still capable of doing not so stupid things? The two dimensional world of the media abhors reason and certainly academic success does not require that one be correct in any of their analysis only that they can write volumes about that which they postulate.

I suppose talk radio isn't much better at times with hosts that set up straw men through which they lead the charge and demolish as if they were breaking the gates of a fortified castle when all they are doing is shuffling the leftover straw obtained from an abandoned chicken coop. That said I commend Ms. Lewinsky for doing something respectable with herself.

In what way? "Social Science" degrees are pretty much content-free. They prove nothing but that you sat in class, and turned in a paper on time -- regurgitating the prof's wacky theories, usually.

Monica could easily go on to PhD in the field using nothing but her only demonstrated skill, fellation of the powerful.

The fact remains, she's an insecure fat slut, and the envy of all liberal columnists for having done literally what they only did figuratively for the eight-year nightmare that was the Clinton regime.

And on the other hand, we all know geniuses who can't tie their shoes. The third, and worst, category is the idiot who thinks he's a genius, and never tires of telling you about it. The worst example of this type is a guy I knew who claimed he had more education than an MD, but didn't have a college diploma. Needless to say this guy was a flaming liberal Nader voter with a do-nothing government job. finally, his wife, who was a librarian, and just as liberal and just as stupid as he was, threw him out(great story in itself), and he married his cousin.

Depending on one's perspective she either committed a sin or made a mistake. In any case, it might take some wisdom and forbearance but perhaps it is time to ease up on her.

Like many young women and girls what she thought was an expression of love was seen by her partner as a mutually exciting sexual experience. He was old enough to know better and so was she, but the age and power differential augured for better judgment on his part than was expressed.

Sooner or later it has to be forgiven even though it will be hard to forget. I can well see the audience applauding her academic success as an example of personal courage in the face of continuing public humiliation.
