You would think people would return with National Guard soldiers patrolling the city.

With all the Hispanics moving in, it's going to be 'Caramel City.'

Population dropped by 200,000 people is 5% from last year?
Huh?
There were 4,000,000 people living in New Orleans?
I doubt it

"I'm hopeful we will wake up and have a greater sense of the urgency of about getting these dollars to our citizens so that they can make into their homes."
So someone else is responsible for neglecting the victims.

Yes-he's confusing "registered voters" with the city's population. Two very different things.

5% of La's population has left.
Large plurality left NO and it's surrounding and southern parishes.

It's a figure for the entire state of Louisiana, but we all know precisely which part of the Pelican State really lost its population.

Louisiana, not New Orleans.

When you can sit on your ass anywhere and collect welfare for the rest of your life, why spend all the time and effort to go back to New Orleans so you can sit on your ass and collect welfare for the rest of your life?

A better slogan would probably be 'Reese's cup'.

There were 4,000,000 people living in New Orleans? 4MM in the whole state. Read it again.

Looks to me like Louisiana is going to lose a seat and it will likely be Melancon.

It took death at their doors to get them to take any action to begin with. Why would anyone think initiative is an attribute they possess now?

Yes-he's confusing "registered voters" with the city's population. Two very different things. The 2000 US Census put New Orleans' population at 484,674.
The 4,000,000 figure is all New Orleans' "registered voters". Some of those elevated New Orleans tombs contain 9 or 10 Democrat voters. New Orleans lost 5% (mainly the living ones), or 200,000.

Correction ... the inhabitants of the housing projects haven't returned. The rest of the metro area seems to be in place fairly well.

Uuh gee, hey Nagin, you have killed the goose that lays golden eggs, how's it feel? Who would want to move into a corrupt an area in America as you run, when life dealt them the good fortune to escape?
