If you don't vote in 2008, it won't matter.
The point is that Rudy and McCain are the front-runners. There are no conservative alternatives to them. Mark Sanford and Haley Barbour won't run. Kyl and Cornyn show no interest.
Mitt will run a distant third to McCain and Rudy.

Have it your way. Mutt's a bum and a liar. McLame is anathema to any American who believes in the Constitution, and a crook to boot -- remember the Keating Five?
So, by your view, it's Roooody vs Hitlery.
I'll pass on that, thanks. Have a nice election.

Who's your candidate, then?

Lincoln went from the House to the White House.

I'd cheerfully settle for the 'Debt of Honor' scenario. Don't need Jack Ryan; Mr. Cheney will do quite nicely if thrust into office.
I could tolerate Pence, but he's a non-starter. Barbour would do, but he reads the political winds and is thinking 2012, I believe. Forget Frist and Pawlenty. The formula for winning over the past 40 years is: BE A GOVERNOR, not a Senatecritter or a Housecritter, not an ex-anything, a sitting governor.
I'm sure you can figure it out from there.

Gov. Pawlenty is very much pro-sodomite. By "pro-sodomite" do you mean that he is pushing for special legal rights for homosexuals with regard to hiring and housing, etc., or simply that he's not going door to door looking to prosecute homosexuals for what they do in private?

You are mistaken, sir. Lincoln entered the House in 1847. In 1858, he was no longer a sitting House member and ran against Stephen Douglas for a seat in the Illinois state Senate. He was defeated, and, come the election of 1860, he was politically unemployed at the time.
As Mr. Casey Stengel used to say: ''Ya could look it up.''

Not a chance. We've had two Bushes, both disappointments, hugely.
Plus, as you surely know, Jeb led much of the charge against offshore drilling. Apparently, it's quite all right for the citizens of AL, MS, LA, and TX to view oil rigs and platforms, but -- in his view -- it's not OK for the citizens of FL.
No more Bushes. No more Clintons. No more clones of either.

Mitt will run a distant third to McCain and Rudy.I think you might be right, and it may end up Rudy/Romney defeating Hillary/Obama or Hillary/Richardson. We shall see.
To: SAJ
Mark Sanford? This guessing game seems rather unnecessary.

Yeah, Sanford is a HUGE McCain supporter, so that is that.

My apologies for the misidentification. I **believe**, but am not certain, that, other than Garfield, Quincy Adams was the only man to go straight from the House to the White House (election of 1824). And THAT occurred only after the presidential election was thrown into the House by lack of a majority of electors for any candidate.
Henry Clay cut himself a nice little deal there. Swapped his support to Quincy Adams in return for being named Sec'y of State.
Quincy Adams, btw, is also the only man ever to serve in the House AFTER serving as President.
