Grasso wrote a letter to the school board last week, offering to donate creches for educational use in classrooms. He also noted the acceptance of menorahs without lights. "Why not a Nativity Scene without 'Baby Jesus' alongside the Menorah?" he wrote.

Why not a menorah without lights? Why not a manger without a baby? Why (not) a world where lighted menorah candles and luminous babys in mangers must be concealed within private homes? So sad to read about this ridiculous squabbling incited by self-centered atheists ...

Shepherds wore yarmulkes?

Never did see any depiction of an angel wearing one either.

CharlesWayneCT: Is the "public square" a place where all people have equal access, or nobody has any access?

Could be either, Sea-Tac was an example of no religious access/displays, rather a "Holiday Tree" that somehow represents all religions.

YankeeGirl: I sure would hate to see that crescent and moon on the village square for the whole month of Ramadan.

And obviously if there's going to be religious access, obviously Islam will be included, as would any religions with holidays during the "Holiday Season". Usually displays are privately funded, but if tax dollars fund a Nativity Scene, then I suppose they'd have to fund everything.

Yes, a stable and a candelabra, which make as much sense as a "Holiday Tree". I'd guess shepherds did at the time. In fact the word yarmulke is thought to be aramaic, they're kippahs in Hebrew. I don't see why angels would wear them.
