Also, despite cynicism from oppontents/detractors that this was just thougt up in the last few weeks, Romney publically sought this arrangement back in June '06 (see link below). WHo knows how long he had been considering it . . . and then, once deciding, how long it took to devise and hatch the plan. I'm guessing at least several months. Regardless of the politics involved, it's a good policy and at least he got it done!

Buchanan praising Romney, is probably what Romney doesn't need.

There is probably no industry in which illegal aliens are more heavily concentrated than meatpacking. Guess Pat's never visited a California farm or orchard. Or in Texas, either.

Pinging the anti-Romney, pro-Romney, and undecided-but-interested crowds. LOL, but you left Buchanan out of the equation. He dove off the deep end a long time ago.

Buchanan praising Romney, is probably what Romney doesn't need. I learned here last night that Pat's sister, Bay is Mormon. I hope this is not an indication that the Buchanan's are trying to sign onto Romney's campaign.

Romney is starting to look like the only potential candidate who knows what to do about illegal immigration. Surely, Giuliani does not. Nor does McCain.

Pat is fixated by factories. He wants them returned to the 1950's, good jobs at good wages, populated by folks that look like him. That is the mythology anyway about that allegedly halcyon age, when things were so much more closely co-extensive with Pat's shining city on the hill. I am not sure he minds much "questionable" folks picking the crops. Isn't that where he thinks they belong?

I think you may be on to something. Blood lines matter to Pat, I would suspect. The clan comes first.

I think that's true (about Bay).
I get no excitement that this praise came from Pat B., but it shows that it's a good policy (say what you may about Pat B., but he does know the immigration issue well and is on the right side of it).

I am an evangelical. I'll take a pro-life Mormon over a pro-abortion Southern Baptist.

Well during the golden age of the 50's, America was the only nation that was not bombed during WWII. So there was no competition from Europe or Asia.. So we had the luxury of being the only nation that had a manufacturing base.. Not anymore....
