I miss the days when my sister's friends would invite us over for Hanukkah (homemade latkas-yum!)and then they would come to our Christmas celebration. Pity I moved to Detroit.

The holidays can be bittersweet. One cannot help but reflect with sadness over times and people gone forever. But we must forge ahead and make new happy memories. What choice do we have?

You are so, so right!

We live today. We can see it as something lost or see it as a new page in the book of life.
I am happy that I have the memories. One day when I'm old and grey (well, I'm grey now but I color it), I will think how blessed I have been!

All the best to you and yours!

Hey FRiends!
Can anyone give me a link to a really good children's site for Hanukkah?

I will feel guilty if I don't do any schooling today at all!

Correction: that's happy Chanukkah 5767!

And just a reminder: Chanukkah is older than chr*stmas and was celebrated by J*sus himself!

What would Hannunkah be without that great font of modern rabbinical wisdom, Adam Sandler?

Put on your yamukah
Here comes Hannukah
So much funnukah
To celebrate Hannukah

Hannukah is: the festival of lights
Instead of one day of presents
We have eight crazy nights

When you feel like the only kid in town
Without a Christmas tree
Here's a list of people that are
Jewish like you and me:

David Lee Roth
lights the menorah
So do Kirk Douglas, James Caan
and the late Dinah Shorah

Guess who eats together at
the Carnegie Deli?
Bowser from Sha-Na-Na
And Arthur Fonzarelli!

Paul Newman's half Jewish
and Goldie Hawn's half, too
Put them together,
What a fine looking Jew!

You don't need to Deck the Halls
Or Jingle Bell Rock,
'Cause you can spin the dreidel
With Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock! (both Jewish!)

[Chorus]

O.J. Simpson [not a Jew]
But guess who is? Hall of Famer Rod Carew [He converted]
We got Ann Landers and her
sister Dear Abby,

Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish
Not too shabby
Some people think Ebenezer Scrooge is
Well, he's not, but guess who is --
All three Stooges!

[Chorus]

So many Jews are in Show Biz
Tom Cruise isn't but I think his agent is

Tell your friend Veronica
It's time to celebrate Hanukkah
I hope I get a harmonica
On this lovely lovely Hanukkah
So drink your gin and tonica
But don't smoke marijuanica
If you really really wannika
Have a Happy Happy Happy Happy Hanukkah

Happy Hannukah Everybody!

Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah!

At Torah Study I sit next to a lady who was raised Catholic but has discovered that her family were Spanish Jews who though apparent "conversos" fled Spain after the Expulsion of 1492. She is finding her way back after 500 years through study and diligent introspection. She and I have become friends and watching her travel this road that led me to a greater appreciation of the heritage I was born into.

This is her first Hanukah and through her I've been celebrating it anew.

Happy Hanukah to everyone. It's meaning of the triumph of a desire for freedom speaks to all - of every faith.

The importance is not what you call your faith - but that you have faith.
