Trust your instincts! The wait is painful, but it won't be long now!
Good post.
Information like this is why I started and continue to visit freerepublic.
Somehow I can't imagine Assad II leading troops in battle. He could die suddenly on a day he wasn't expecting to die...he's an Alawite in a Sunni-majority country, and some Sunnis enjoy blowing people up with car bombs...and there are plenty of people who could decide they must avenge a dead relative whose death they blame on Assad. Or he could just be the victim of an unfortunate road accident.
PS: Now I understand who did you mean by the Boy President when you replied to one of my postd last time :)
There's no advantage to wait until Iraq quiets down before smacking Syria. Modern offense doesn't stop and wait for an overrun area to become quite, the goal is to keep rolling, with succesive overruns on evermore vital rear areas until you overrun (and stop) on top his government HQ.
The Announcements sidebar is reserved for FR business.
Not this.

Not a bad strategy, not at all, I agree with you. Although launching a massive Air Campaign against Iran will also force Baath terrorist regime Syria to surrender on its own and stop messing around with us anywhere in the Middle East.
Not only that, but the Syrian Baath terrorist regime changed their so called constitution (LMAO) in 2000 after the death of their dictator Hafez Assad, the father of the Boy dictator, to make it illegible for a man to be President at the age of 35 where it was originally minimum 40 year old of age for someone to be President.
Bush has about zero political capital and almost no support these days on the Hill. Nothing will happen. He's not in control of events anymore.
As far as I'm concerned, the whole Syrian constitution is illegible...it's in that stupid Arabic alphabet where all the letters look the same.
Righty right. Will remember in future.
Thought it meant "Announcements" as in "Press Releases".
Be Seeing You,
Chris
Why kill Assad when the Saudi Ambassador can show up after the Golani Brigade line up on the frontier to the Southwest, First Marine Division and First Cavalry line up in Anbar to his east, and the two carrier battle groups are lined up in the Med?
All he needs do is kick out the Iranians, every last one of them, and he gets back the Golan. In return, he gets to be President for life. No permanent vacation in Palm Springs under an assumed name. His only sacrifice is to abandon Nasrallah and the Persians. In return, he gets what his father never did: the Golan and a paper treaty with Israel that has a Demilitarized Zone.
I smell something like that in the works when I see a statement come out of the WH that talks about the future internal structure of Syria. Real late night at Chez Boy President tonight.
BTW, my Senator, Bill Nelson, was in Damascus meeting w/ the Opthamologist today. Don't get too down on Bill. He's actually a good Democratic Senator who made a necessary stop.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
Something HAS to be done about Syria. It's threatening the peace of too many countries. It threatens Iraq, Lebanon, and Israel. Also, Syria could be taken out by us in about 3 days.
// I smell something like that in the works // You might have a better nose than I do; here's hoping.
