Wouldn't it make more sense not to put additional equipment on ground zero?

If Israel can use this equipment to defend democracy and western values against Islamic fascism, I'd say that's a decent use of US taxpayer resources. It's a lot better than some of the other things our government spends money on.

Who knows how much support will be given to Israel in the next Congress...
Especially if it involves any $$$. Better get stuff over there while we can...

I'm reminded of the decision a couple years ago to purchase ammunition from Israel, but ship it to the US for training, while shipping ammunition from the US to Iraq. For fear of offending the terrorists by killing them with Israeli ammunition.

Wouldn't it make more sense not to put additional equipment on ground zero? Presuming you're alluding to a nuclear exchange with Iran, US troops in Iraq are ground zero as well.

Sounds like money well spent to me. They can make good use of it to kill those who would kill us.

Israel is small, but not so small that it does not have lots of space to spread out such weaponry.

To the extent that Israel can access the equipment, I agree. But I find it highly unlikely we'd ever make use of it if it had not already turned to radioactive slag. Would the US really insert troops into the kill zone if things had deteriorated that much or would be simply be bombing the surrounding countries back into ... well, further back into the stone age?

In addition, the US will allow Israel to use the remainder of the US's monetary guarantees given to them that have not been used yet, and add up to USD 4.5 billion, by 2011. Gen 37:5-8
5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told [it] his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7 For, behold, we [were] binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

I really doubt that the Israeli's will wait until it is turned into radioactive slag before they use it -- with or without US approval (probably with, but maybe unofficially). I also don't think it is being put there for US use so it doesn't matter if we ever decide to "insert" troops.
Remember when Nixon kept the Israeli's from going under. They had to ship everything from here to there before they could use it. It was the biggest airlift since the Berlin blockade. Think how much easier it would be for the US to just say, "OK, the keys are in the glove compartment. Have fun."

Wouldn't it make more sense not to put additional equipment on ground zero?I like the sublimal message it sends to the Iranian crackpot, and Assad's Syria.

Think of Israel as a law-abiding citizen living in a neighborhood of complete thugs and goons.

Thus does this administration give great support to a loyal ally and a tacit warning to Iwannajihad.
Didn't we give them some 500 JDAMs as well.

The value of the equipment currently stored in Israel amounts to USD 100 million and the American government approved doubling its value to USD 200 million in the coming year. In 2008 the military stock will be doubled and refilled once again in the value of USD 200 million. Keyword cornucopia ping.
