That's why I only have about 30% outside the dollar.I guess my point is that perhaps a third of that should be gold or gold-levered(stocks,etc).
Let's face it - it wouldn't kill you to have doubled your money over the last year in that asset class, like so many gold investors, including moi!
I only wish 100% of my portfolio had been metals stocks - dadburn natgas and oil stocks are going nowhere, and I had to pick the one Chinese telecom play that has gone down over the last year!
So I'm only up 55% on a 12 month basis as of today. Still, diversification is wise.

I believe the decision to stop compiling and publishing M3 indeed shows what you say is true.
To me the first news I had that the M3 series was not to be maintained strongly implied that serious inflation has become inevitable. The trend in M3 during the last year it was published combined with the end of M3 measurement implies we will see this inflation sooner than we expect.
Oil politics on the geostrategic level is now the major variable, I think.
