I would argue that it is morally defensible for NYS citizens to not pay State taxes. I left upstate NY and fled to the Free State of NH a year and half ago... I've never been happier!!!

It is now difficult to believe, but nonetheless true that back in the 1940s and 50s, CCNY was a highly respectable, well-regarded New York college. Well at least it was until their basketball team was implicated in a sensational point-shaving scandal in 1951, but aside from that, the school was attended by largely Jewish and Catholic middle-class students with significant academic aspirations and career ambitions.

Then came "open admissions" in the late 1960s and you can pretty much guess what happened afterward. It's truly a shame. I have looked at the school's 1953 yearbook - the year my mother graduated - and you cannot believe how many now-famous and successful people attended CCNY in that time.
