If you say so ...
Ah! That's a much stronger argument.
I do
Even without sophisticated arms, they are a threat, as illustrated by 9/11. However, yes, I agree that we armed Iran under the Shah and the House of Saud as well as the future Talaban in Afganistan. The Soviets armed the Baathists in Iraq and the Syrians. In the view of the Jihadists they used both superpowers to accomplish many goals. They armed themselves, they settled regional scores, and they gained influence in Arab governments. They would have adapted to any geopolitical reality in order to advance their goal of global Islam.
Yeah, there wasn't any islamist violence before 1917, was there?
There was but it wasn't as organized. The first wave of jewish immigrants in the late 1880s was a concern and sparked considerable friction as they were viewed as outsiders and resisted being second class citizens and many of the arab workers attracted to the area were jealous seeing the strong community, culture and improvements to the land the jews were making after purchasing the land legally from arab land barons. During the first world war from 1914 many Jews were looked upon as spies and untrustworthy as Arabs, for the most part, played each side against the other and ended up on the wrong side. From the fall of the Ottoman empire the organized rabid hatred of Jews intensified and eventually brought the devil himself to power in Jerusalem. Do a google search on Haj amin al husseini to learn more about what true rabid smoke out of nose and ears hatred is. Probably the biggest goof the British ever made in the middle east.
Before you know it we will be filling out forms for permission to take a s...
The Saudis are a 'let em eat cake' government and have no real concern except for their wallets....and maybe keeping the whole 3 piece headress thing intact.....
Yep! It's gonna be called "toilet tyranny!!!" Yes Sir!!! (snort!)
The terrorists cannot win alone. They would leave a vacuum in their wake. Bin Laden is not looking to become a head of state. Which nation in the Middle East will be able to become the leader in the region, should all of bin Laden's efforts prevail?
Soviets were in there arming Egypt Syria Jordan Iraq right after Israel was formed
They were beheading people as far away as Spain well before that.
Let's go back to the early 7th century then, a different kind of hatred practiced in different times. I was referring to modern times and modern thought during which time you'd expect to see more rationality and civility
