There may be a handfull of dealers who might knowingly do 'straw' sales. However, Bloomberg is just an idiot and is rabidly anti gun. If he could get away with it, he would probably switch the NYPD back to the old 6 shot revolvers.

Lets keep in mind, the current NYPD PC (Ray Kelly) faught against the NYPD changing from revolvers to Glocks in the early 90's. Do some research about that whole story. The semi auto's that the NYPD rank and file carry on the street are modified to the 10th degree (12+ pound triggers, modified mag's...)

NYC just needs to be viewed as the hemoroid of America. The AG of one of these states should step up and put Bloomberg is his place.

Except that it's also America's financial capital.

Can the states should sue NYC and Mayor Bloomberg personally for violation of its citizens rights?

Former Ga. Congressman Sues NYC Mayor

(AP) Former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr filed a $400 million lawsuit against New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday, claiming Bloomberg's attempt to crack down on gun dealers was "careless, willful and clearly illegal."

Pardon my ignorance on this but I just don't understand and sure I must be missing something here. Sure there are shady gun dealers who knowingly sell to criminals. Is this what it's about? Or were the buyers legal at time of purchase but used them later in crimes or sold them or had them stolen?

Follow my comments on the thread. Your questions should be answered.

The city sued 12 gun dealers in five states for allegedly selling weapons that were traced to crimes committed in New York.

When will the NRA and/or the Firearms companies file suit against New York city for the thousands and thousands of criminals New York city creates every year and for the crimes they commit elsewhere in the US?

Communist? What he's doing doesn't have anything to do with communism. You should read up on the word.

Whatever word is used, what Bloomberg is doing does not have anything to do with the United States Constitution either!

So, thanks for the correction. The proper term Fascist suits Bloomberg just fine.

Thank you all. I hesitated to ask naive questions among such knowledgable posters.

I think it's time to sue all the lawyers and judges. Every lawyer and judge for everything, and don't stop. Ok, not every lawyer, but seriously, why is it any different for the law community. Tobacco gets sued, automakers get sued, gun companies, hospitals, individuals,,, all for real or perceived threats, real harm or death. The very same argument trial lawyers would use against a company "Profits over safety" can be used against many in the law community. Are they not also a business? Do they not also enrich themselves at our expense? They steal our homes, attack our businesses, effect and limit our medical care through the threats of lawsuits, the list goes on and on. Yeah, perhaps it's time for the mother of all class action lawsuits, the American People VS the Trial Lawyers and Liberal Judges.
