You know what's even funnier?

You helped make it happen! Now you can reap the rewards over the next several decades.....

Are you under the impression that being a jerk helps you win an argument?

Abolutely, and they did not accomplish that sweep by moving to the middle. They knew what win, they used it and won. Moves began almost immediately to undo that particular strategy, many of them by Republicans. 2006 was the culmination of that assault on conservative values.

If that was the case, you'd win all your arguments, wouldn't you?

Here's an idea...

If this passes, obviously we will no longer need to expand the Border Patrol, and could probably just do away with that organization all-together...

Then we can remove border security from the Department of Homeland Security's charter...

And make a circle and sing Kumbaya, beat our drums a cry a little bit...

This would be more effective than what we have going on now...

/big time sarcasm

The gain in Democrat voters will not be that great; you KNOW the illegals are already voting illegally and have been for years for the Democrats. It's just a matter of legalizing the illegal votes.

No basis in fact.

Very few legal aliens vote illegally before becoming citizens. The same applies to illegals who are two steps away from voting status.

This is why this amnesty is such a betrayal. It will make a huge difference in the voting rolls in the years to come. Consider also how many Legal immigrant relatives these amnestied illegals will be be able to bring in once legalized.

"Well...how's he wrong?"

The exit polling shows no support, at all, for the ridiculous contention that pro-border security voters stayed home and did not vote. On the contrary, Republican pro-border security candidates fared much better in the elections than Republican open border advocates. In addition, almost every anti-illegal alien ballot measure passed handily. There's my support, where's yours?
I'm tired of the pathetic attempts by Republican hacks to divert blame from their pitiful performance in the elections.
The Republicans fielded corrupt candidates, candidates that had squandered their chance to reform the corrupt system, candidates that were more liberal than some of the Democrats, candidates who had nothing but contempt for conservatives, and candidates who offered nothing during their tenure in office and offered nothing to the voters in their campaigns. The Republican leadership still doesn't get it. You lost because you didn't do YOUR job. Blaming your sad performance on conservative voters who, as usual, voted in high numbers, only demonstrates your cluelessness. If the leadership continues down the same "blame everyone else" road, they will only suffer more losses.

Yes we see that about 20 times a day here.

What, people post that Tony would say that, or they say that themselves? I don't read every post so I don't know what you mean.

Truth is it only takes one senator to block this, so we'll see if there is a conservative in the senate

It also only takes one person to veto it...maybe someone can slip in something about abortion or embryonic stem cells so he'd actually do it.

LOL So, you expected cosnervatives to support Bush`s amnesty proposal, and then you expected conservatives to vote for liberals. You're absolutely delusional.

Since you can't give an intelligent and honest answer, I'll tell you who is responsible for the amnesty legislation Congress will pass next year, and Bush will sign into law. That would be the President himself.

George W. Bush suffered the worst Congressional defeat by a Republican President since Herbert Hoover in the 1932 election. Bush ignored his conservative base and the GOP paid the price at the polls on November 7th. There were obvious warning signs on the horizon and many conservatives spoke out, but they were ignored. Bottomline. The President is ultimately responsible. Bush failed to lead Republicans to victory. End of story.
