It would appear that Kalifornia was FOR MTBE before it was AGAINST it. Perhaps they will change their minds again, and we can bring it back.

I think it is because of the way kids grow up nowdays. In short
children today are brought up in a "bubble" and their immune systems
are not allowed to develop.

The polio outbreak in the USA in the first-half of the 1900s is
acknowledged to be a "disease of cleanliness".

I wouldn't be suprised that some of these other problems don't
have a component of this. Now that most of the population lives
in the relatively sterile urban environment, not on the farm,
working and playing in an environment filled with all sorts of
mud, muck and wild/domesticated animals.

It's lower than it is in the industrialized world--about the
only disease that I can think of that is this way (outside of
those induced by distinctly industrial phenomenoms).

IIRC, its the same thing for colon cancer.
The general thought is that the "bulk" in diets in undeveloped
countries keeps food "moving" through the bowel, with little opportunity
to stick around and make mischief for the bowel.

Yep. My 21 year old daughter recently tested positive for TB. Her X-Rays were negative. She is now on antibiotics for the next six months and hopefully it is not the new strain. I was tested and turned out negative. The wife is next to be tested. A friend of mine had his daughter test positive for TB. She had to be treated and in the meantime he removed her from the "diverse" school. Each day one reads of a new disease import, most recently a worm that eats the brain. "Diversity" will kill us socially, politically and biologically. Why Americans are not rising up is beyond me!
