Thanks for posting this. This is a good reminder that, especially during WWII, contributions towards the war effort came from many quarters. May the Navajo Nation always be proud of their very important contribution that helped to end the war in the Pacific.

One more newspaper photo(San Diego Union) from days gone by - circa April 66. The Navy just opened the gates on promotions. One sixth of our enlisted crew were promoted. That's me shaking hands with the Skipper when I sewed on my 2nd Class Crow. The promotion list was published on a Friday and there was a mad rush to get new crows for the Monday ceremony. :)
