Dear Rameumpton,

"She would repeat the line you talked about 'being personally against abortion but for women being able to choose.' Thankfully, I saw the light and converted fully to Conservatism."

My mother was "personally pro-life but..." up until the last few years of her life. It was a deep wound in my heart that my own mother would think that it could be acceptable to procure the killing of one's own child. I was grateful that she came to realize what it was she was endorsing, and changed her mind before she died.

"Anyway the real question is whether Romney saw the light like I did."

You have gotten to the very heart of the matter.

If I were persuaded that Mr. Romney had truly become a pro-lifer, it'd be a lot more likely that I'd vote for him. I'd still want to be persuaded that he was truly conservative on not giving into the homosexualist agenda, on gun rights, on taxes, on cutting spending. And I'd be interested on his take on foreign policy, especially the War on Terror. I'd very much want to hear him lay out his program.

But he did an interview with Judy Woodruff I guess about a year and a half ago. A FReeper told me where to see it on YouTube, I think. In it, he talks about his "conversion" from pro-deather to pro-lifer. I found it obscenely unconvincing. It left me cringing for him. I kept shouting at the screen, "Please try to put on a better, more convincing act! You're phoning this one in!"

Perhaps Mr. Romney is uncomfortable really opening up or something like that. But the problem is that the timing of his "conversion" is so damned opportunistic that I really gotta be convinced, or there's just no possible way I can support him.

I won't vote for a baby-killer for president.
