No young, bright individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of educational benefits."

From Rangel's bio.

Congressman Rangel served in the U.S. Army from 1948-52, during which time he fought in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.Congressman Rangel is a graduate of New York University and St. John's University School of Law.

So can we conclude that HE joined the army because of the bonus and educational benefits, and it worked just fine for his career, but wouldn't for anyone else who took the same path? Doublespeak.
