HA, they WISH Cheney was out!!!

Don't they know that you don't just dump a constitutionally elected VP the same way you do a political appointee who serves at the pleasure of the president?

And as far as I can tell from "those that know a lot more than me", Bush didn't want to have to accept Rummy's resig but .......it had to be.

Seems to me the reporter & the Globe must have failed their constitutional government classes. The V.P. is the #2 man in the White House and serves not at the pleasure of the sitting President, but rather, serves at the pleasure of the electorate. What poppycock on the Globe's position.

If Cheney were out, he'd have hopefully already resigned. If he waits much longer, then the Dems will have to approve the new VP.

The Globe and it's staff of reporters are as delusional as the NYT, LAS and the WP, keep dreaming guys.

I wish the VP would announce he was going to seek the presidency in 2008. I know he doesn't want to run but it would be fun to watch the DBM and democrats get hysterical over it. After about 6 months he could say "Just kidding".

The ONLY possible upside to a sucessful impeachment of President Bush would be those words 'I, Richard B. Cheney, do solemnly swear...'
'Rat Congress be damned (and they will be), a President Dick Cheney would do things we can only dream about happening right now under this Administration.

Well there's out of office and then there is out of the loop. Cheney could remain as VP but be reduced to his Constitutional office of breaking ties in the Senate and checking once in a while to make sure President Bush is still alive.

I love Cheney and wish he would run for the 2008 Presidency. However, he has said on numerous times that he is not interested in the Presidency.
That said, I think he should resign next year under the guise of health and be replaced with the front runner for the Republican nomination. My preferences right now go towards the direction of Republican Governors Sanford, Pawlenty, Romney, Huckabee or Barbour. Give the new VP some real hands on experience and let the public get used to the guy as being seen as "Presidential". It would also be a goldmind of media attention to get the name associated with President.
ps. it would also not suck for Lynn Cheney to take on her husbands job duties if it were to become available. Fat chance but nice to think about.

I did see a bumper sticker on someone's car that (for a moment) looked like he might run, until I really thought about what it said.
In the same style as the BUSH/CHENEY '04 stickers, with the American flag in the corner, on a blue background, it said, "CHENEY/VOLDEMORT '08". That one took me a minute.

The MSM has a "list" of people they won't gone; now that Rummy is gone, they're going to move onto Cheney.

Aren't Pelosi and Reid the president's advisors now? That makes Cheney's job redundant doesn't it?
