FR needs a purge in the worst way. I never thought I'd see the irrational hate that permeates this board today... hate of solid Conservatives.

LLS Sorry but I think you are misreading the opposition to Mel as RNC head. Everyone is thirsting for the anti-Dean, someone who will be just as visible in the news and on the talk shows - a matching sound bite with the conservative position asserted just as forcefully. A leader. While a conservative voting record might be a pre-requisite for the job, it is hardly one of the key dimensions necessary for the person to do it effectively. And to take it on as a part-time assignment is ludicrous.

I doubt anyone is looking to kick him out of the party or the Senate for that matter. On the contrary, he can assert lots of leadership there - just not on amnesty! Let Mel do that and give us a full time RNC Chief that will keep Hillary out of the White House in 2008.

Don't try to paint earnest fear for the party and reasoned opposition to his taking that particular role as hate - that is simply a different kind of race card.

I could be wrong, I am sure few will pass the opportunity to tell me so. I believe we lost the midterm because:

1) Republican turnout was lower than normal. General malaise about the performance of the Republicans on spending, immigration and the war all contributed.

2) Democrat turnout was higher than normal because all pro-amnesty liberals, legal aliens and as many illegals as they could sneak through got out and voted against Republicans because of their position on immigration.

As a matter of convenience or not, this appointment confirms in my mind there are some in the party that believe we lost on the immigration issue as well. Otherwise, this appointment makes zero sense.

****Then using your "logic", Tom Tancredo is also a RINO, since he and Martinez have the same ACU rating, 100%.***

Nice try, won't fly.
That ACU rating is meaningless and is a straw man.

  1. Martinez has only been in the senate since Jan 2005
  2. His ACU rating is based solely on 2005 (won Nov 04)
  3. That ACU rating is also based only on 25 votes the ACU had a position on
Wanna try again? How about Illegals for $100?

These types of issues will be around forever.

Social Security is just about bankrupt. I think this is important since I will be retiring in less then 20 years.

I want my own account for my medical and social security benefits. I will even pay for it.

Nope. Nanny state says I can't.

"LLS Sorry but I think you are misreading the opposition to Mel as RNC head."

Lets see... on this thread he has been called a Rino, "wetback", and liberal... He is none of those things. I didn't misread anything. It may not represent your opinion however.

"Everyone is thirsting for the anti-Dean, someone who will be just as visible in the news and on the talk shows - a matching sound bite with the conservative position asserted just as forcefully."

Ann Coulter

"A leader. While a conservative voting record might be a pre-requisite for the job, it is hardly one of the key dimensions necessary for the person to do it effectively. And to take it on as a part-time assignment is ludicrous."

Perhaps the new Republican governor will appoint a new Republican Senator if he resigns his seat. He may serve as interim Chair.

"I doubt anyone is looking to kick him out of the party or the Senate for that matter."

Read again... some here on this thread do.

"On the contrary, he can assert lots of leadership there - just not on amnesty!"

Guest worker program does not have to be Amensty ala Reagan.

"Let Mel do that and give us a full time RNC Chief that will keep Hillary out of the White House in 2008."

We shall see.

"Don't try to paint earnest fear for the party and reasoned opposition to his taking that particular role as hate - that is simply a different kind of race card."

One word on this thread destroys your argument... "wetback"!

To contact Republican National Committee Members go to the link below. It will give you a map. Pick a state and when you get to the state website it will have a box on the right side of the screen in gray that says "State Party Information." In this box there is a link that says "Get full leadership information. It will have the contact information of all your States RNC members.

Its actually probably alot more important than most Americans realize. The RNC has the following responsibilities:

* Developing and promoting the Republican political
platform.
* Coordinating fundraising and election strategy.
* Organizing and running the Republican National
Convention.

This allows the National Committee to shape the way that the party is represented. If the Committee wanted to say make the agenda "inclusive" for instance, the committee could hijack the party policy and water down conservative values for more "Centrist/moderate" views. The party committee can steer the party politically to the left or right so its important to make sure that the right person is working on the parties strategy and representing the party well.

Wow, what a disgusting example of party politics. No wonder so many people are turned of by the process.

Precisely why we need someone in that position who is interested in reviving what got Republicans into the majority in the first place.

Newt Gingrich would be that man. It's too bad this is a Presidential nomination and not a race.

The Martinez nomination would be more reassuring if he had been vocal like Gingrich and Pence within the last week.

First Rummy got the boot.
Second Gates-Baker nomination.
Third Bush/Dem bipartisanship.

And now this. -_-

They just don't get it.

That about sums it up. We don't need a RINO, illegal-loving leftist in that spot.

Where's Newt?!
