Everyone should write to these RNC members and tell them to kill this appointment. We dont need to have our own party betray its own people and laws. No amnesty.

Somebody tell me - what's wrong with Martinez?
Is he conservative?

Bush and the RINOs just spat in our faces. They just got smacked down in the election and they still don't get it. I guess Bush would rather fight a war against conservatives than against the terrorists.

1. Totally pro-amnesty.
2. Even with Bush getting 55% in Florida in 2004, Martinez got just 49% in his Senate bid, barely squeaked in.
3. Dumb as a stump. During Schiavo debate, Mel screwed up and handed a cynical GOP strategy memo to Tom Harkin.
4. The whole thing was orchestrated to screw over conservatives and create a weak RNC chair that is just a puppet for Rove.

The surprise Martinez appointment, leaked yesterday to selected TV outlets and wire services, cut off a move by conservative Republicans to have Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele take over the national party chairmanship. Current Chairman Ken Mehlman announced last week he would step down at the January meeting..........
The move was seen as a signal that the White House intends to push through Congress the "comprehensive" immigration bill -- which Mr. Martinez and Mr. Hagel backed in the Senate -- that was blocked by conservative Republicans in the House. "Clearly, Martinez is going to lead the fight for amnesty that Bush couldn't win when Republicans controlled the Congress," the RNC member said.

I do not understand this and I wish Bush would come clean about it.

He supports amnesty for illegals and thinks many more "guest workers" should be welcomed.
After Mr. bush worked to get this assclown elected he failed to support Mr. Bush on several issues.
He is a Cuban American and thinks it a-ok to let every damn cuban come to the U.S. where they get federal and state aid for walking on U.S. soil.
Other then that he is great.

Not only is this cronyism on a par with Harriet Miers, or even worse, and not only is this part of the effort by Bush to shove his "Comprehensive Immigration" plan down our throats with the help of the Democrats,
but read the article to see how petty the Rove-Bushies have become. They are POd at Steele for talking to the papers last week about his name being floated and now, not only did Rove do an end run around the party leadership, but he is threatening to withhold the Cabinet seat from Steele that he had initially promised as a sort of consolation prize.
How truly petty and vindictive can you get... especially when you TOTALLY BOTCHED THE ELECTION, Mr. Rove.

Still see absolutely nothing about how Martinez is going to be both a full time Senator and in this role at the same time.
It doesn't make any sense.

Scratch him and you'll find a Mexican 'wetback'...maybe a rino..not sure yet...definitely not a conservative. Actually you will find a Senator who has the same ACU rating as Tom Tancredo, but you would rather judge someone on their ethncity, instead of their political values.

Particularly doesn't make any sense when I've heard nothing about Martinez's ability to raise money and organize the party.
We have a Whitehouse to keep and a Congress to rebuild but unlike Gingrich and Pence I haven't heard anything out of this guy that makes me think he's got the drive to accomplish the task.
