Read this and know Roy is the real deal.
I know one of his relatives and have had the pleasure of discussing poltics with him at length at their kitchen table. I cannot say enough that is good about this man.
Yep and Chafee went down too.
In 2008, All we have to do is to get rid of the following rinos, Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins, Warner, Lamar Alexander, Libby Dole, Smith from Oregon, that bridge to nowhere Stevens guy, Chuck Hagel, and Sununu, Domenici and McConnell in the republican primaries, then we need to hold all 21 of our seats and then we need to win 11 out of the 12 democrat seats (Arkansas: Pryor (D) Delaware: Biden (D) Illinois: Durbin (D) Iowa: Harkin (D) Louisiana: Landrieu (D) Massachusetts: Kerry (D) Michigan: Levin (D) Montana: Baucus (D) New Jersey: Lautenberg (D) Rhode Island: Reed (D) South Dakota: Johnson (D) West Virginia: Rockefeller (D) ) That makes 60 for us !
"If W grants amnesty to 30 million illegals I'm all for his impeachment."
I hate to say this too, but an impeachment or hearings into the war will serve as diversion to stall the creation of a new immigration state. If it is to be Iraqs boarders or our borders, it should be a no brainier as to which we need to rally behind first, and which to let go first.
Sad since a true war on terrorism needs to focus on both our boarders and the middle east, but if those in power are not talented enough to chew gum and dance at the same time, or just downright refuse to protect our borders, then let them all get tied up in an Iraq debate. It will divert them from destroying our nation as we knew at where typically immigrants consisted of only 5% of our population and we actually had a border.
Without any serious opposition.
Tough immigration policy didn't cost the GOP its majority, but the fact that the second-most vocal anti-immigration crusader lost in a very Republican district is still significant. Also significant is the fact that RINO Brian Bilbray (CA) is the only Tancredo-endorsed candidate to win a primary all year, and even he had a really close race against a liberal in a very Republican district.
The real lesson is not that Tancredo-ism gets you beat -- it's that it ain't gonna save the GOP. Graf never had much of a chance, but if you can't make immigration an issue in that district, it's a sign that it's just not that important to most people.
But now the Dem congress will pass comprehensive amnesty, and Republicans can pretend to be outraged. So it's a moot point.
Every immigration control proposition in that state passed. Is that a moot point? And you're wrong. Ask any congressman, they ALL said when they were home the #1issue was immigration. The dems won becaue they LIED and told their constituents that they wanted to stop illegal immigration because they knew that's what the public wants.
Graf didn't have much of a chance when the RNC worked against him!
Immigration may have been an issue in the congressmen's ear, but it sure wasn't the issue the voters cared about when they got to the Congressional line, is it?
I'd almost forgotten about the ballot measures, thanks for the reminder. That makes an even stronger case against Tancredoism as a political issue. If you can't win as an immigration candidate with a popular immigration initiative on the ballot, what does that say about your issue? I'll tell you what it says: that sentiment may be broad, but in most places it's about one centimeter deep.
Well, in New York it is about this deep..

...and getting deeper.
