Please don't even compare McCain to Chafee, not even close.B.S.! Maybe not as liberal, but just as much a rino prick against many conservative principles and especially when the repubs needed him to do the right thing, he cared more about HIS ambition than the country's. McPainintheass, may he be the next to go!

What a joke! I'm sorry the "R" seat was lost but Chaffee got what he deserved. He claimed to be an "R" but mostly acted with the Dims. See what he got for "kissing up" to the Dims....nada. He gave no loyalty and he got no loyalty.

As I said before, I'm sorry we lost the Senate, but it's probably just as well we didn't have to count on him being the deciding vote, because he was halfway gone in better times anyway.
Now? He's out. Like the guy said in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", I could care less if he comes, stays, lays or prays.

Sounds like Linc took the same correspondence course in "political hand biting" that Jim Jeffords took. Think of the First Lady wasting her time campaigning for this 53 yr old metrosexual brat.

His was a bright spot in the 2006 election bloodletting. If it was a 50-50 senate, we couldn't count on him, and he could try to use that leverage to pull all sorts of stunts.
Now he is looking for a job - seems to me his voter registration at this point isn't very important or interesting to everyone else.
We have work to do, but we won't have to deal with this guy trying to pull stunts in the Senate, at least.

I seem to recall being told we HAVE to support Chafee, that he would never pull a Jeffords on us...
To those people I say..GROW UP.
Time you lived in the real world and acknowledged the real characters of these people.
To Chafee I say good riddance. To Senator Dole I state Thank you. For screwing your base and further alienating us all on behalf of this jumper. Worked at REAL well you, huh?

(Lafee would) have not had a chance either. No, R.I. should have been a total write off as a hopelessly blue state and any money put into this race should have been spent to save Santorum, Allen, Talent or even Dewine.Agreed, but supporting Lafee over Chafee would have stuck to principle. Support for Chafee added to the (correct) impression that Republicans this year were more interested in holding on to power than in doing the right thing. That hurt us in other races, including the ones you mention.

Sadly, there's going to have to be plenty more RINO bloodletting before the party is purged. John McCain, Chuck Hagel, the Lenin Sisters from Maine (Snowe and Collins), Arlen Specter, Lindsay Graham, ... just to name a few.
