bump for later
The cult of Seventh Day Adventists rears its ugly head. Ranks right up there with Scientology.
Ellen White? A woman who had 'visions' after being hit in the head with a rock. Today they treat people like that for brain injuries. And let's not forget that she was a known plagiarist.
Thanks.

I fell for her lies years ago and it was pointed out to me by a pastor friend and then some more good Christian friends that she was a plagiarist and a lier. Not, certainly, a prophet. There are myriad articles of the truth about Ellen G. White. I strongly suggest that if you are interested in prophesy, read the Bible.
How is this news?
I see the parallels with today, but where did she get the rest of the stuff that isn't in any Bible?

Ah! That answers my question. I didn't place the name "Ellen White " right away.
Those people are right about the Sabbath being Saturday, but only if you want to go back under The Law again. :-)
Remember, the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath!

"Remember, the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath! "
What's your point?
Why do you consider the Seventh Day Adventists a cult?
I don't know much about this group, but I see that they go around doing good.
In Asia, they have built many hospitals and are known as very kind-hearted and loving people. In my opinion, their behaviour is more "Christian" than members of many other Protestant denominations.
I'm curious as to why the SDA so controversial. Seem like good people to me.
Good post. Thanks.
God chose the day, man changed it. If you keep the first day, you are ceding authority to the Catholic church, who changed it, not the Bible, not God.
And since when is obeying God falling back to legalism?? If that is true, then can I steal, lie, etc, with impunity? Because those things are in the 10 Commandments too, just like the instruction to remember the Sabbath day. And God clearly marked the seventh day as the Sabbath day.
He calls Seventh-day Adventism a cult because he knows better than any Bible scholar. (rolling eyes) Someone has an axe to grind.
"since when is obeying God falling back to legalism?"
Christians are under grace, not law. If you choose the law, you make the cross of Christ of no avail. The Saturday Sabbath is Jewish.
Many do good as seen by the eyes of man, but man's best is evil in the sight of holy God, lest man be born again in the Spirit of God by the grace poured out at Calvary through Christ Jesus.
The SDA relies on works and law keeping - sure doom, for no man can keep the law and if one breaks one bit of the law, he is convicted of the whole law. Such is God's standard. And only the Lamb of God was and is able to keep the law perfectly and, so, able to be the sin offering for those called children of God by faith in Christ.
Behavior of "Christians" does no define Christ. No man can be a perfect example to be followed in all things. We must look to the Savior and His Word alone to see what Christianity is. Many will be turned away on judgment day, having performed many miracles and claiming the name of Christ. They will be called "workers of iniquity".
Fine, give me your wallet. I get to steal with impunity. Grace does not exclude obedience.
And the seventh day Sabbath was instituted at creation, well before Judaism. Read your Bible!
SDA means well, but they've got the whole affair of the ritual norms for Jewish and Gentile believers hopelessly scrunched together. Christianity does not ask for more than Noahism of Gentiles as far as ritual norms. Gentile Christians don't have to bother with any "Sabbath" at all. The Lord's Day (Sunday) is a common occasion of worship.
And exactly where does the Scriptures say that you start counting? Is Sunday the first day of the week (making Saturday the 7th) or is Monday the first day of the week (making Sunday the 7th).
Quote me the passage that says Saturday is the 7th day and not Sunday.
