She said results showed Oregonians don't like the government getting involved in intimate family decisions.

This is just insane! Allowing a 15 year old to have and abortion without the parents knowledge is not getting the government involved in intimate family decisions?

I grew up in SW Washington (south of Mt. Saint Helens). [listening to Portland, Oregon news] Most of Oregon is fairly conservative, except for the Portland metro area, which skews the entire state liberal. I have memories of life chain (annual pro-life event) in downtown Portland and the reactions of people driving by....Many of the most adamant proponents of murdering ones own children are actually those who are themselves personally suppressing guilt over their own actions. This makes abortion difficult politically as the numbers of abortions are staggering. The end chapter of this tragic story isn't written yet. Let's write it. Never give up.

I love the Land of this State. I HATE the people.

Yea, how are these IDIOTS going to feel when their 14 year old daughter suddenly begins bleeding in her bed after being taken to an abortion clinic the day before and dies? Or even just gets VIOLENTLY and messily ill? What are they going to feel when they find out it was some 22 year old perv who has dropped off a whole BUNCH of girls at the clinic after having their way with them to solve the "Problem"? What these STUPID fools don't get; the STATE now has MORE rights to your kids health and medical decisions than the PARENTS do! WTF! This is a vote to keep government out of private lives B!**$hit. This is the State telling parents THEY DON'T NEED TO KNOW ABOUT their own CHILD'S healthcare, the STATE will do it for them. B!**$hit. this happens to MY kid I am suing the state for 1,000,000,000,000 dollars and I don't care how long it takes to win the case, I will bankrupt the state that does this to MY child!

Any questions OREGON? You FOOLS!?!!?!

Time to seriously look at the "State of Jefferson" movement again. In the 1930's Southern Oregon and Northern Calif. became fed up with their state governments ignoring the needs of the rural areas. They were very seriously considering forming a new State (Jefferson) that had Roseburg as its Northern boundary and Yreka Cal as its southern border. The movement fizzled out after WWII started and never got going again. Today Ashland, Or. and Eureka, Cal are the only liberal areas in the Jefferson State boundaries and will easily be countered by the remaining dominantly conservative communities.

Measure 43 passed by an overwhelming majority if you take out Ashland, Portland, and Eugene from the vote counts.

I suppose that voters feared that abusive parents were to be notified just as well as good parents, and they didn't want that.

So it could be that voters didn't know all the facts (if there was a bypass for girls in that situation, not that I know myself).
