Blackwell lost Ohio the day he was nominated. Half the Republicans in this state thought he was crazy.

Taft and his corruption/scandals also screwed the Republicans for at least one cycle.

As for DeWine, most Republicans viewed him as a weak sister who voted wrong with the Gang on the judicial rules. Good riddance many have said. Sherrod Brown will be a one-termer as a senator.

I'm with you, I can't do this any more. The country has gone nuts and I'm tired of trying to turn them around.

People tend to underestimate the very real residual danger that Dem'crats represent, and they were dismissed just a little bit too soon. Sure, they are buffoons, and are prone to mouthing inanities and inconsistencies, but they still can muster one hell of a make-up job, and for an evening, at least, manage to look somewhat respectable.

They just can't look quite American. They may have the accent pretty good, and even the cut of the clothes. But they have this "crazy-eyes" look about them, and exude just a whiff of corruption that cannot seem to be masked.

One sure giveaway - follow the money, starting about 8:00 AM tomorrow.

A lot of libertarian voters have gotten disenchanted with the GOP's Big Government, Bossing Your Personal Life approach to government and went to the Democrats.

I agree...if we believe there is a God, then everything is HIS plan, right? I'm not going to give myself ulcers over this. But I am convinced we are no longer a Conservative country, we are a moderate country trending liberal. We will end up like Europe and the Muslims will take over...a world without principles could never rise up against millions of people whose whole life IS principle. Oh well...hopefully, I won't be around.

And that narrow lead in the Senate will prevent an impeachment from going all the way through.

Life goes on regardless of tonight.

Sure it does. The public is fickle and has a short attention span. Every now and then it needs to be reminded how bad things can be. We can count on the Dems to do that.

>>the 800 pound gorilla in the living room is that we are in Iraq but 5 years after 9/11 we still don't have a handle on our own borders...<<

You got that right. I voted, and I voted Republican, as I always do. And I voted for Bush twice.

That said, I wish someone on our side would ask the President, "Mr. President, do you believe that your idiotic, pigheaded stance on ignoring our borders has affected the outcome of the election in any way?"

What happened in 1938?

The buildup to World War II began in the 1930's and the actual war began in 1939

The war may go on, but it will be without me. I'm claiming conscientious objector status in the cultural war. I can't take it any more. We just built a brand new home on 15 acres at the end of a private, gated road and we have another gate at the end of our driveway and I'm just going to keep it locked. The idiots can do what they like as long as they leave us alone.

Sayyy.... that property of yours could bring in more tax revenue for the county if it were demolished and replaced with a resort through the power of eminent domain...

My prediction .........In 2007 a few piece loving muslimbs....turn themselves into glow balls in some Dimrat infested city and unknowingly invite a few of the infidels to join them in their glowfest.

About the stance on control of our borders -

There is a small, driven minority in this country, independent of any political party, that has as their objective something like the European Union encompassing all of the North American and possibly Central American nations, as one large customs union, to be followed with political union. There are a couple of relatively indigestible parts, with seriously incompatible legal and linguistic differences, that right now make this sort of union not practical.

The idea of this minority, however, is to throw the borders open NOW, and force the change more rapidly than it would or should naturally come. But with these open borders, there have also been some chaos and a considerable amount of abrasive confrontation.

Are you ready to be tri-lingual? Because the Spanish-speaking or French-speaking minorities of Mexico and Quebec are not at all ready to learn English, or at least pretend to be unable to learn. How about Spanish or French law codes that are incompatible with our own American version of English law?

I voted republican also...voted republican since Reagan...people need to ask themselves how the Republicans took power....just read the contract with america from 1994...9/11 was a failure of our lax immigration policies and we've done little to fix it since...look at who heads immigration right now...cronies...it's a joke and everyone knows it...tie this in with every other product you pick up is made in China ....i hear people talk everyday...not political wonks like me...but everyday folks...maybe this shakeup is a good thing...we will have to see how the Pubs respond..if they swing left then i may get hysterical!! ;)
