I pray and hope you are right. My heart agrees with you, my head says otherwise. I will be voting a straight Rep ticket tomorrow, including for George Allen, and against gay marriage.

Bush is not on the ballot in 2008
Bush isn't on the ballot in 2006 either, but you can't deny that his low approval ratings, thanks in no small part to his stance on immigration, is a major player in the 2006 election cycle.
I fear the same could be true for 2008.

Which is utterly irrelevant. Bush is not on the ballot in 2008 the Democrats who passed the bill would be on the ballot. So trying to ignore the fallout that would land on Dems to predict disaster for the Repbs for what the Dems did is nonsense. The point is that neither party would suffer the fallout. It would be similar to the Social Security "fix" of 1983, which raised taxes, increased the retirement age, and decreased benefits. It was a deal struck by Reagan and Tip O'Neill. Most Americans don't even realize what happened. The same thing happened with the 1986 immigration reform bill, another deal between Reagan and the Dems and another failure. Bill passed, problem solved--not.

Like I said. Trying to hold a rational discuss on Immigration on this board is impossible. The Antis are so emotionally welded to their position they simply cannot think about the issue at all any more. This desperation to turn a HYPOTETICAL Democrat passed Amnesty bill into Bush's fault is a prime example of this fundamental irrationality on the topic

This desperation to turn a HYPOTETICAL Democrat passed Amnesty bill into Bush's fault is a prime example of this fundamental irrationality on the topicIt is far from hypothetical. The Senate passed the bill, which was supported by the WH. The Rep controlled House is all that stood between the adoption of "comprehensive immigration reform" [read amnesty] or not. It is not a matter of finding fault with Bush. He believes in a guest worker program and legalization of the status of the 12 to 20 million illegals already in the country, including a path to citizenship. Bush undercut the Reps in the House and the majority of Reps [32] who voted against the McCain bill.
I have no idea what you mean when describing "Antis." I am against ILLEGAL immigration, not legal immigration. I am also against rewarding people who violate our laws.

If there's someone that's a good strong conservative I could go for a new Speaker if Hastert is ready to give it up. But he isn't a RINO and that's a big thing. I still wish DeLay was there. He never got the credit for all he did in forcing the RINOs to the table to vote Republican. It wasn't until he was run off for a non crime that most realized what a good strong conservative he was.

Makes you sick doesn't it? Liberals just have no shame. Whatever it takes to get power.

I am hoping to find it. It's so repulsive. "Republicans want little girls to get diabetes and cancer". That kind of crap does not get votes. If they're so desperate they have to resort to that, they must know they're toast.
