Sounds interesting, actually. Happy Halloween.

We left Sunday after a weekend with our daughter and she went to see this. She said the firt two weren't 'too bad' and great for playing detective. Should I worry about her? [zzzzzzz?]

I just don't understand why anyone would want to watch such gore-splattered trash. I've never understood it in the slightest.

Gorenography doesn't appeal to me, but each to his own.

I know I'm squeamish.

I wasn't suggesting taking you to see it, dear.

And I asked her about that because I can't stand gore for the sake of showing off prowess with special effects.

Saw 1 wasn't necessarily a gory film (Band Of Brothers had more blood and guts), but it was definitely one of the creepiest horror flicks I've ever seen.... and I despise slasher films. But Saw 1 was riveting.

Turns out it was an independent film made on a very low budget in only a few weeks time. Most of its horror is in the script and the sets, which create a really oppresive atmosphere.

I've read that Saw 2 was a rote knockoff.

I am always skeptical on things like this.

Not enough to pique my curiousity into buying a ticket.

Gee, I'm so out of it, I haven't even heard of this movie. Reminds me Mr. Bean attending the scary movie with his girlfriend.

FWIW, the scariest movie I've ever seen was the original version of The Haunting. No blood/gore/bug-eyed monsters. But the movie scared the stuffing out of me. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Happy Halloween, MI :)

I am probably becoming jaded and cynical, but I can't remember the last time that a horror film truly scared me. I think the closest was the original Omen film, and seeing that Damien had survived.

Too many real life horrors to get scared by silly movies.

Good.

Whilst I'm not wimpy enough to faint in a cinema, I don't think paying money to hide behind the seat in front is very sensible.

Some of the worst Gorenography out there.

I am probably becoming jaded and cynical,

pan Dr. Jekyl turning ito Hyde...you? Cynical?!

OTOH, I agree The Omen was horrific...but not quite as much as the everyday...

Actually I think horror stories scare me more than films - HP Lovecraft's stories are particularly good at that.
